Description
Position Summary
Under the direction of the Radiologist, the CT Technologist performs required radiographic procedures, utilizing independent judgment and technical skills to apply ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis. The role involves producing cross-sectional radiographs of patients' bodies for diagnostic purposes, maintaining patient safety and comfort, and ensuring the quality of images produced.
Position Responsibilities
- Transport patients according to their physical abilities relative to the exams requested.
- Utilize positioning aids to produce high-quality patient exams.
- Operate all CT-associated equipment.
- Ensure patient safety in accordance with department policies and procedures.
- Administer contrast media as ordered by the Radiologist.
- Assist in performing special procedures when required.
- Practice sterile technique and Universal Precautions at all times.
- Maintain all records per department policies and procedures.
- Clean examination rooms following each procedure.
- Restock linen and supplies as needed.
Required Education & Experience
- Two years of previous experience in a related field is preferred.
- Satisfactory completion of formal radiology technology training from an AMA-approved school.
- Registration as a CT Technologist by the ARRT is required.
- BLS Certification is required.
Physical Demands
The role involves considerable walking, standing, bending, and squatting. The position requires reaching forward and overhead, sitting, and climbing. Moving and lifting of patients and equipment is necessary, with weights ranging up to 250 lbs. Manual dexterity for starting an IV is also required. Effective verbal communication with patients is essential.
Shift Information
Weekend shift: Saturday, Sunday, Monday (3/12s). Holiday coverage is required.
