Job Opportunity: Pediatric Psychiatric RN (Night Shift, Every Other Weekend)

Unit Overview

• Unit Name: Epstein 2 - Pediatric Psychiatry
• Patient Population: Children ages 4-18 years
• Program Type: Inpatient child and adolescent psychiatry
• Care Environment: Nurturing, non-coercive, 24-hour care
• Bed Count: 30 beds
• Typical Census: 20-25 patients
• Clinician to Patient Ratio: 1 RN to 3 patients
• EMR System: EPIC

Job Details

• Shift: Nights, 36 hours per week, every other weekend
• Floating: Required to other behavioral health areas within Epstein Units and AMHU
• Rotating Shifts: Not required for night positions (up to 20% rotation for day positions)
• Experience Required: Minimum 2 years at one hospital/location
• Required Skills:

  • Trauma-informed care
  • Patient-centered approach
  • Verbal de-escalation skills

Licensure & Certifications

• Current Massachusetts RN License (no conditional licenses accepted)
• BLS Certification (AHA, Red Cross, CHSF, or Military; AHA preferred)
• Other Required Certifications/Health Requirements (must be current and documented):

  • N95 Fit Test (within 1 year)
  • MGB Medication Exam (80% passing within 1 year)
  • MMR Immunity or Vaccination
  • Influenza Vaccine (required during flu season, no exemptions)
  • TB Test (skin or blood test within 3 months)
  • Health Statement from MD/DO/NP/PA (within 1 year)
  • Criminal Background Checks including Massachusetts CORI, National Sex Offender Check, Exclusion Checks
  • Respirator Medical Clearance Attestation (if fit test required)
  • Education Verification
  • Social Security Number Trace
  • References: 2 recent, including at least 1 supervisor or above
  • Skills Checklist and Candidate Submission Coversheet (required for submission)

Additional Notes

• Floating to other behavioral health units is required.
• Night shift does not require rotating shifts.
• Must be able to verbally de-escalate pediatric psychiatric patients.
• Documentation and verification of all licenses, certifications, and health requirements must be completed prior to or upon onboarding.
• No religious or medical exemptions allowed for N95 fit testing or influenza vaccine.
