Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Modesto, California
Facility: Acute care setting
Job Summary
- Provide assessment, coordination, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care.
- Deliver direct patient care, patient/family education, and manage transitions of care.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans considering psychological, sociocultural, spiritual, economic, and lifestyle factors.
- Maintain collaborative relationships with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare providers.
- Adhere to hospital policies, industry standards, best practices, and applicable laws to ensure optimal patient experience.
Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Shift & Schedule
- 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (3 x 12)
- Weekend requirement: Every other Saturday and Sunday
- Holiday coverage as needed (No Thanksgiving or Christmas Day Return to Office approved)
Required Licensure & Certifications
- California Registered Nurse (RN) License
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA or ARC only, valid within 180 days of hire
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - valid within 180 days of hire
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) - valid within 90 days of hire
Background & Screening Requirements
- 7-year background check including SSN trace with all aliases, county searches, nationwide sex offender search, education verification, and motor vehicle report if applicable.
- FACIS Level 3 screening required within 2 weeks of start and monthly thereafter.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required and updated annually.
- Sex offender search within 90 days of start.
- Transcript/Diploma verification as needed, including international education verification.
- State-specific Medi-Cal Suspended and Ineligible Provider List search if FACIS III cannot be run.
- Pending background check attestation may be required if background is delayed (conditional clearances handled case-by-case).
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (must clear candidate for work).
- Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (exceptions apply).
- TB screening questionnaire within 90 days of start, renewed annually.
- Negative TB test (QGold, TSPOT, or PPD) within 90 days of start, renewed annually.
- Immunizations or titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (series or declination)
- Varicella
- Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination required during flu season (Nov 1 - Apr 30).
- Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids per CA law).
- Color blindness exam if applicable (in-person only).
- Respiratory safety clearance required, renewed annually (exceptions apply).
Competency & Testing Requirements
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable.
- Unit-specific competency exams, including dysrhythmia/EKG competency if applicable.
- Pass/fail testing (EKG/medication) may be required for ICU RNs at certain locations.
Documentation & Compliance
- Must provide full 7 years of work history with no gaps over 30 days; employment verification required.
- Unit-specific skills checklist required, renewed annually.
- Professional references required (2 for clinical/allied/per diem acute care; 1 for per diem non-acute care).
- Candidate must review and sign facility-specific documents including job description, standards of business conduct, code of conduct, vendor training, overpayment refund policy, and regulatory orientation prior to start.
- Religious exemption forms required for PAPR use and certain vaccine exemptions, approved on a case-by-case basis.
Additional Notes
- Personal or auto insurance required only for home health or driving positions.
- Passport-style photo required for badge.
- Some certifications and verifications must be completed within 30 days of start.
- Candidates with work restrictions must provide documentation; accommodations will be coordinated.
