Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Modesto, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Overview
- Accountable for assessment, coordination, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care in an acute patient setting.
- Provide direct patient care, patient/family education, and manage transitions of care.
- Deliver holistic, individualized care considering psychological, sociocultural, spiritual, economic, and lifestyle factors.
- Foster collaborative relationships with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare providers through effective communication.
- Adhere to hospital policies, industry standards, best practices, and applicable laws to promote optimal patient experience.
Shift Details
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12-hour shifts (06:45 - 19:15)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other Saturday and Sunday, plus holidays as needed
Required Licenses & Certifications
- California Registered Nurse (RN) License
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - must be current within 180 days of hire
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - must be current within 180 days of hire
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) - must be current within 90 days of hire
- EPIC experience required
- Travel nursing experience preferred
Background & Screening Requirements
- 7-year background check required within 6 months of start, including:
- Social Security trace with all aliases
- County searches for last 7 years of residence/work/school
- Nationwide sex offender search within 90 days of start
- Education verification (highest level achieved)
- FACIS Level 3 screening within 2 weeks of start and monthly thereafter
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks, updated annually
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids due to CA law)
- Employment history verification for up to 7 years with no gaps over 30 days
- References: 2 professional references required (Aya requirement, not client)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (must clear candidate for work)
- Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (exceptions apply)
- TB screening: Negative QGold or TSPOT within 90 days or 2 PPDs as specified, renewed annually
- Immunizations or titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (series or declination)
- Varicella
- Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination required during flu season (Nov 1 - Apr 30)
- Color blindness exam if applicable (in-person exam only)
- Respiratory safety clearance required prior to start and renewed annually (exceptions apply)
Competency & Testing Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam may be required for some units
- ICU RNs may be required to take EKG exam onsite after start
- Unit-specific skills checklist required, renewed annually
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Review and sign facility policies and job description prior to start
- TB questionnaire completed and signed by healthcare provider within 90 days of start, renewed annually
- Various attestations and compliance documents required before start
- Passport-style photo for badge required
Additional Notes
- Candidates must have full 7 years of work history documented with no gaps
- Some certifications and verifications must be completed or current within specified timeframes relative to start date
- Religious and medical exemptions for immunizations and fit testing may be considered with proper documentation and approval
