Job Opportunity: RN NICU - Massachusetts (Newton)

Position Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN) - Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
  • Location: Newton, Massachusetts
  • Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: 36 hours per week, rotating 3x12-hour shifts
    • Shift times: 7:15 PM - 7:15 AM or 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM
    • Rotation depends on unit needs and is not guaranteed
    • Every other weekend and rotating holidays required

Required Credentials and Certifications

  • Professional Licensure:
    • Valid nursing license with primary source verification (NURSYS and Board of Nursing required)
    • Massachusetts Conditional Licenses are NOT accepted
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (AHA, Red Cross, CHSF, or Military; AHA preferred)
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) (AHA, Red Cross, CHSF, or Military; AHA preferred)
  • Health and Safety Requirements:
    • N95 Fit Test within 365 days of start date, updated annually (must use MGB N95 Respirator Fit Test Record Form)
    • Influenza vaccine required during flu season (Sept 15 - April 30), no exemptions allowed
    • TB test (skin test or blood test) within 3 months of start date, updated if >6 month break
    • MMR vaccination or proof of immunity
    • Health Statement signed by MD/DO/NP/PA within 365 days of start date, updated if >6 month break
    • Fit Test Respirator Medical Clearance Attestation (if fit test required)
  • Additional Recommended/Preferred:
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or proof of immunity (strongly preferred)
    • Tdap vaccine within last 10 years (preferred)
    • Positive PPD with negative chest X-ray documentation if applicable

Testing and Orientation

  • MGB Medication Exam (80% passing score within 365 days)
  • MGB NWH Self-Study Orientation & Attestation (mandatory before onboarding)

Background and Compliance Checks

  • Criminal Background Check within 45 days prior to start, updated if >6 month break
  • Massachusetts CORI check within 30 days prior to start, updated if >6 month break
  • National Sex Offender Registry check within 30 days prior to start, updated annually
  • Exclusion checks (OIG, GSA, MassHealth, NH Medicaid) within 30 days prior to start, updated annually
  • Social Security Number Trace as part of background check
  • Education verification of highest degree achieved
  • References: 2 recent references required, at least 1 supervisor or above in skillset

  • Resume including past 7 years of work experience with city and state
  • Skills checklist
  • Candidate submission coversheet
  • Confirmation of Assignment/POI form upon acceptance and for any assignment changes

This position requires compliance with all credentialing, health, and background verification prior to onboarding. The role involves working in a high-acuity NICU environment with rotating shifts and weekend/holiday coverage.
