Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Pediatrics (Travel/Contract)
Location: San Francisco, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Acute care pediatric RN responsible for assessment, coordination, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care in an acute patient setting.
- Provide direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care.
- Deliver holistic and individualized care considering psychological, sociocultural, spiritual, economic, and lifestyle factors.
- Collaborate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare providers.
- Critical Care experience required in PICU or IMCU.
- Traveler will likely float to PICU and NICU; must be comfortable and capable in these areas.
Shift Details
- 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (07:00 - 19:30)
- Weekend rotation included
- No on-call requirements
Requirements
- Licensure & Certifications:
- California RN License
- BLS (AHA)
- PALS (AHA or ARC)
- Experience:
- Minimum 2 years pediatric nursing experience
- Critical Care experience in PICU or IMCU preferred
- APHON certification preferred but not required
Background & Compliance
- 7-year background check required within 6 months of start
- Annual updates required for EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, FACIS Level 3, and other regulatory checks
- Sex Offender Search required within 90 days of start
- Education verification required (Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred)
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids per CA law)
- Physical exam required within 1 year of start
- Fit test required within 1 year of start; must be renewed annually
- Immunizations and health screenings required including:
- TB test or chest X-ray (annual renewal)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination
- Hepatitis B vaccination or declination
- Varicella immunity or vaccination
- Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (Nov-April)
- Respiratory safety clearance required annually
Additional Requirements
- Full 7 years of work history with no gaps in employment over 30 days
- Unit-specific skills checklist required, renewed annually
- Medication/pharmacology competency exams as applicable
- EKG competency exam may be required
- ICU RNs at this facility required to take an onsite EKG exam after start
- Candidate must review and sign facility-specific documents including job description, standards of business conduct, code of conduct, vendor training, and regulatory orientation prior to start

- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
- Candidates must be comfortable floating between PICU, NICU, and IMCU units.
- No on-call duties.
- Weekend rotation is required.
