Job Opportunity: ICU RN Nights and Every Other Weekend (EOW)
Location: Salem, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Position: Registered Nurse (RN) in Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU)
- Shift: Nights and Every Other Weekend (36 or 48 hours)
- Floating Required: Yes, primarily to Medical/Surgical units (up to 4-5 patients)
- Unit: 20-bed Level III Trauma Center ICU (Medical/Surgical ICU)
- Patient Population: Adult patients with conditions such as Substance Abuse/Overdose, severe Psychiatric conditions, DKA, Sepsis, GI bleed, Respiratory Failure, Cardiac Arrest, Renal Failure, Cardiogenic Shock
- RN to Patient Ratio: 1:2 or 1:1 for high acuity; 1:4 or 1:5 when floated to Med/Surg
- EMR System: EPIC
- Telemetry competency required (must be able to read tele strips)
- Rotating Shifts: Day shifts rotate between 7a-7p, 11a-11p, or 7p-7a; night shift does not rotate
- On-site parking available
Required Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of continuous adult ICU experience, preferably in MICU
- License: Active Massachusetts RN license (no conditional licenses accepted)
- Certifications:
- BLS (American Heart Association only)
- ACLS (American Heart Association only)
- Additional Requirements:
- Telemetry competency
- Ability to float to Med/Surg units
- Must be able to read tele strips
Health and Compliance Requirements
- N95 Fit Test (within 365 days of start date, updated annually)
- MMR vaccination or proof of immunity
- Influenza vaccine (required during flu season, no exemptions)
- TB screening (skin test or blood test within 3 months of start date, updated if >6 month break)
- Health statement signed by MD/DO/NP/PA within 365 days of start date
- Hepatitis B vaccination or proof of immunity preferred
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years preferred
- Criminal background checks including Massachusetts CORI, SSN trace, National Sex Offender Check, and exclusion checks
- Respirator Medical Clearance Attestation
- Documentation of two references within 4 years (minimum one supervisor)
- Resume including past 7 years of work experience with city and state
- Skills checklist (must be completed within 1 year)
Additional Notes
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
- Floating to other units is a mandatory part of the role.
- Must be able to work night shifts and every other weekend.
This position is ideal for experienced ICU RNs looking for a travel opportunity in a Level III Trauma Center ICU with a diverse adult patient population.
