Job Opportunity: Float Pool Med/Surg Telemetry RN
Location: Salem, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Float Pool RN position requiring willingness to float to 8 different units within the hospital.
- Work shifts include Days, Evenings, and Nights with rotation and every other week (EOW) scheduling.
- Responsible for cardiac monitoring, managing cardiac drips, and interpreting telemetry strips.
- Patient care includes ED border patients, acute mental health medication nursing, and non-vented ICU transfer-ready patients.
- Patient ratios: Days & Evenings up to 5:1, Nights up to 6:1.
- Charting system used: EPIC.
Required Experience & Skills
- Valid RN license in Massachusetts.
- Telemetry experience with at least 2 years in an acute care setting, including telemetry experience within the last year.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Experience with TR Band.
- Experience in performing cardiac drips.
Required Licenses & Certifications
- AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA only, no Red Cross accepted for this location).
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is preferred but optional.
Additional Requirements
- Must be willing to float between multiple units.
- Must pass medication and dysrhythmia exams with at least 80% within the last year.
- Fit testing for N95 respirator within 365 days prior to start date, updated annually.
- Required immunizations and health screenings including:
- MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccination or immunity proof.
- Influenza vaccine (mandatory during flu season, no exemptions).
- TB test within 3 months of start date.
- Hepatitis B vaccination or immunity preferred.
- Tdap vaccine preferred.
- Health statement signed by a licensed provider within 365 days.
- Criminal background checks, CORI, SSN trace, sex offender registry, and exclusion checks required within 45 days prior to start.
- Documentation of 7 years of work experience and education history.
- Two professional references within 4 years, including at least one supervisor-level reference.
- Completion of skills checklist and candidate submission paperwork required.
Patient Population & Environment
- Care for a diverse patient population across multiple medical-surgical telemetry units.
- Units range from 8 to 41 beds.
- Includes care in emergency department, acute mental health, and ICU transfer-ready patients.
- Float pool environment requires flexibility and adaptability.
