    Description

    Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - PACU

    Location: West Hollywood, California
    Employment Type: Travel/Contract
    Contract Length: 13 weeks


    Job Summary

    Provide recovery care for patients undergoing biopsies (liver, kidney, lung, bone), ablations (lung, liver, bone), drainages (abscess, thoracentesis, paracentesis), and preparation for outpatient CT/MRI scans including IV starts, oral contrast, and point-of-care testing.


    Schedule

    • Shift: 4 days per week, 10 hours per day (08:00 - 18:30)
    • Weekend Requirement: 1-2 weekend days every 6 weeks
    • No scheduling requests can be accommodated

    Required Qualifications

    • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
    • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
    • Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience
    • Minimum 1 year of recent PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit) nursing experience within the last year
    • Certifications:
      • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
      • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
      • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
      • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
      • CHEMO (Chemotherapy Certification)
      • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
      • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring)
      • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)
    • Experience with Epic electronic health records system
    • Experience with admissions and recovery of procedure patients

    Job Duties

    • Recovery care for various invasive procedures including biopsies, ablations, and drainages
    • Preparation for CT and MRI scans including IV starts and oral contrast administration
    • Perform ISTAT point-of-care testing and Cholestech lipid testing

    Additional Requirements

    • Active professional license required before start
    • Physical exam within 1 year confirming ability to meet essential job functions
    • Fit test for respiratory protection within 1 year (updated annually)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (with additional requirements if history of positive TB)
    • Required immunizations/vaccinations including MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, and seasonal flu vaccine (mandatory during flu season)
    • Drug screening within 1 year of start date (specific drug panel required)
    • Background check including 7-year criminal history and education verification
    • Professional references: 2 required, at least 1 supervisory

    Orientation and Competency Testing

    • Pass/fail EKG competency assessment during orientation (required for PACU and certain units)
    • Medication test during orientation (not pass/fail)
    • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification check
    • Other competency exams as required by specialty

    Notes

    • Photo for badge must meet strict requirements (passport-style photo) and be approved prior to start
    • Fire safety training/course required within first 6 months of assignment
    • No pending licenses accepted; license must be active at submission
    • Must comply with facility-specific policies including confidentiality, code of conduct, and attendance

    This position is ideal for experienced RNs with PACU or procedural recovery experience who are comfortable working a 4x10 schedule with occasional weekend coverage. First-time travel nurses with 2+ years of relevant RN experience are welcome to apply.
