Job Opportunity: ICU Registered Nurse
Location: Modesto, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide assessment, coordination, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care in an acute patient setting.
- Deliver holistic and individualized care considering psychological, sociocultural, spiritual, economic, and lifestyle factors.
- Educate patients and families and manage transitions of care.
- Collaborate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare providers.
- Adhere to policies, industry standards, best practices, and applicable laws to promote optimal patient experience.
Shift Details
- 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (3 x 12)
- Weekend requirement: Every other Saturday and Sunday; holidays as needed
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in California
- Minimum of 1 year of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Experience
- Specialty: Registered Nurse in ICU
- Required years of experience: Not explicitly stated; assume minimum experience appropriate for ICU level nursing (typically 1+ years ICU experience recommended)
- No explicit prior travel experience required
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year background check required within 6 months of start
- Various federal and state screenings including EPLS, HHS/OIG, FACIS Level 3, Sex Offender Search, and others as applicable
- Education verification required (Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred)
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids due to CA law)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually (exceptions apply)
- Immunizations and health screenings including:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray (annual renewal required)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella immunity or vaccination as required
- Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (Nov-April) or signed declination
- Respiratory safety clearance required annually (exceptions apply)
Additional Certifications and Competencies
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam may be required for some telemetry units
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification may be required
- Other certifications as applicable to ICU nursing
Documentation and Orientation
- Must review and sign facility-specific documents including job description, standards of business conduct, code of conduct, vendor training, and regulatory orientation prior to start
- TB screening questionnaire required within 90 days of start and annually thereafter
- References: 2 professional references required within 3 years for clinical acute care candidates
- Employment application must include full 7 years of work history with no gaps

- Weekend and holiday coverage required as part of the schedule
- Candidate must be prepared to comply with all health, safety, and regulatory requirements prior to start
- Religious exemptions for certain requirements may be considered on a case-by-case basis with appropriate documentation
This position is ideal for experienced ICU Registered Nurses licensed in California who are comfortable working 12-hour shifts with weekend and holiday rotations in an acute care setting.
