Job Opportunity: Labor & Delivery / Postpartum / Newborn RN

Work Schedule

• Evening shifts: 11:00 AM – 11:30 PM
• Includes 1 night of call and every other weekend (EOW)
• Rotating shifts with primarily day position rotating to evenings and nights as needed (no straight day shifts)

Unit Description

• 25-bed Labor & Delivery Unit including Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, Newborn Nursery, 2 Operating Rooms, 2 Recovery Rooms, and 2 Antepartum Nursery rooms
• Average daily census: 15-25 mothers, babies, and labors
• Patient ratios:

  • Labor & Delivery: 1:2-3 during evaluations, 1:1 during active labor, magnesium drip or epidural
  • Postpartum: 1:3-4

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Massachusetts
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience, with experience within the last year
• Postpartum experience
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
• Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification

Documentation and Charting System

• Electronic Medical Record (EMR): EPIC

Required Certifications and Licenses

• Current Massachusetts RN License (no conditional licenses accepted)
• BLS (American Heart Association only)
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
• Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification (NCC, K2, or AWHONN accepted; 2-year renewal required)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred

Additional Requirements

• Fit Test for N95 respirator within 365 days of start date, updated annually (no exemptions allowed)
• Respirator Medical Clearance attestation required if fit test is needed
• TB test documentation within 3 months of start date (skin test or blood test), updated if break >6 months
• Health statement signed by MD/DO/NP/PA within 365 days of start date, updated if break >6 months
• Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity documentation or vaccination
• Criminal background checks including Massachusetts CORI, SSN trace, National Sex Offender Check, and exclusion checks (OIG, GSA, Medicaid lists) within required timeframes
• Passing scores on medication and dysrhythmia exams (80% minimum) within 365 days
• Skills checklist completed within 1 year of submission
• Submission requirements include resume with 7 years of work history, 2 references (at least 1 supervisor), and candidate submission coversheet
