Med/Surg RN Travel Position - California

Job Summary

• Deliver safe, effective, quality nursing care based on established nursing models and theories.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care for assigned patients.
• Provide care tailored to patients’ physiologic, developmental, and psychosocial needs.
• Collaborate with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams to promote health and recovery.
• Delegate tasks appropriately and supervise care team members.
• Advocate for patients’ rights and informed decision-making.
• Provide culturally competent, age-appropriate, and ethical care within legal standards.
• Coordinate patient care activities with nurses, physicians, allied health professionals, and ancillary staff.

Work Environment & Schedule

• Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours per shift (36 hours/week).
• Contract length: 8 weeks.
• Float pool assignment: floating between various Med/Surg and Med/Telemetry units within the same facility location (no mid-shift floating between facilities).
• Department operates on AWS (After Work Shift) policy: double time after 12 hours/day, overtime after 40 hours/week.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in California.
• Minimum 3 years of Med Surg / Telemetry experience, including experience within the last year.
• Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• Previous travel nursing experience.
• Acute care nursing experience.

Physical & Communication Requirements

• Ability to perform physical duties including lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, twisting, reaching, and fine motor skills.
• Proficient written, verbal, and electronic communication skills.
• Ability to document nursing care accurately using manual and automated systems.
• Effective communication skills to facilitate safe patient handoffs.
