Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Modesto, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM)
Hours per Week: 36
Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Nurse for Labor and Delivery on a travel/contract basis. This position requires experience with EPIC electronic health records and prior travel nursing experience.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in California
- Minimum 3 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NRP certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Prior travel nursing experience
- Experience with EPIC electronic health records
Background and Screening Requirements
- 7-year background check including SSN trace with all aliases, county searches, nationwide sex offender search, education verification, and motor vehicle report if applicable
- FACIS Level 3 screening within 2 weeks of start and monthly thereafter (or equivalent checks if FACIS III cannot be run)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks, updated annually
- State-specific Medi-Cal Suspended and Ineligible Provider List search if FACIS III cannot be run
- Sex Offender Search within 90 days of start
- Education verification with preference for Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids due to CA law)
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, cleared for work
- Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (exceptions apply)
- Adult Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years
- Negative TB test (QGold or TSPOT within 90 days) or 2-step PPD with annual renewal
- Immunity or vaccination for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (series or signed declination)
- Varicella
- Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season (Nov 1 – Apr 30)
- Color blindness exam if applicable (in-person only)
- Respiratory safety clearance, renewed annually
Competency and Testing Requirements
- Unit-specific skills checklist, renewed annually
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam may be required for some telemetry units
- Pass/fail EKG exam onsite may be required for ICU nurses at certain locations
Documentation and Compliance
- Full 7 years of work history with no gaps over 30 days, verified by agency
- Two professional references within 3 years (clinical/allied/per diem acute care)
- Completion and signing of facility-specific documents including:
- Job description review
- Standards of business conduct
- Code of conduct
- Vendor training (2024 and 2025 versions as applicable)
- Overpayment refund policy
- TB questionnaire signed by candidate and healthcare provider
- Conditional offer of employment attestation
- Passport-style photo for badge (for per diem only)
- Religious accommodation forms if applicable (for facial hair or vaccine exemptions)
Additional Notes
- Personal or auto insurance required only for home health or driving positions
- Candidates with work restrictions must provide documentation and may require workplace accommodations
- Failed fit tests due to facial hair require shaving and retesting; other failures may require PAPR training
- Candidates must comply with all immunization and screening requirements prior to start
