Description
Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) - Acute Rehab
Location: Charlestown, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Evening (3:00 PM - 11:30 PM)
Patient Ratio: 5:1
Unit Focus: Adult unit specializing in limb loss, burns, med/surg, telemetry
Schedule: Every other weekend
Job Description
- Provide nursing care in an acute rehabilitation setting with a focus on adult patients.
- Manage a patient load of 5 patients per nurse.
- Work evening shifts with every other weekend coverage.
- Care for patients with limb loss, burns, medical/surgical needs, and telemetry monitoring.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts.
- Minimum of 1 year of rehabilitation nursing experience within the last year.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Health and Safety Requirements
- N95 Fit Test completed within 365 days prior to start and updated annually (no exemptions allowed).
- Respirator Medical Clearance attestation required if fit test is needed.
- Documentation of TB screening (skin test or blood test) within 3 months of start date; must be updated if there is a break in service longer than 6 months.
- Health Statement signed by a licensed provider within 365 days of start date; updated if break in service exceeds 6 months.
- Documentation of MMR immunity (vaccines or blood titer).
- Hepatitis B vaccination or immunity strongly preferred.
- Tdap vaccination preferred within the last 10 years.
Background and Compliance Checks
- Criminal background check within 45 days prior to start; updated if break in service exceeds 6 months.
- Massachusetts CORI background check within 30 days prior to start; updated if break in service exceeds 6 months.
- Social Security Number trace as part of background check.
- National Sex Offender Registry check within 30 days prior to start; updated annually.
- Exclusion checks against OIG, GSA, MassHealth, and NH Medicaid lists within 30 days prior to start; updated annually.
Documentation and Onboarding Requirements
- Resume including past 7 years of work experience with city and state.
- Two professional references within the last 4 years, including at least one supervisor-level reference.
- Skills checklist completed within 1 year of submission.
- Confirmation of assignment form required upon acceptance and for any start date changes.
- Nurse Aide Registry check within 30 days of start (required by MA DPH for all employees).
- Orientation summary specific to the facility.
- Education verification through background check company.
- Candidate submission coversheet required for initial assignment submissions.
Additional Notes
- Positive TB test requires documentation of a negative chest x-ray after the positive test.
- Name change documentation required if legal name differs from credential documentation.
- No religious or medical exemptions allowed for N95 fit testing.
- Fit testing cannot be performed onsite; must be completed prior to start.
This position offers an opportunity to work in a specialized acute rehab environment with a supportive patient ratio and a consistent evening schedule. Compliance with all licensure, certification, health, and background requirements is mandatory for onboarding.
