Respiratory Care Practitioner (RRT) - Night Shift

Location: Peoria, Illinois

Hours: 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week
Contract Length: 12 weeks

Job Summary

Responsible for performing respiratory therapy, ventilator management, ECG, oxygen administration, and airway management. Provides individualized patient care and responds promptly to emergencies and urgent needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform all forms of respiratory therapy and non-invasive cardiology procedures.
• Interpret and execute physician orders accurately.
• Manage ventilator settings, perform ventilator checks every 2 hours and as needed.
• Perform intubations and tracheostomy tube changes as assigned.
• Conduct patient education and home care instructions, including arranging home oxygen and equipment.
• Respond immediately to emergency situations, rapid response team calls, and codes.
• Perform bedside lab testing (ABGs) and ensure quality control.
• Document all therapy, ventilator settings, oxygen administration, ECGs, and diagnostic tests accurately.
• Maintain a clean and well-stocked work area.
• Follow infection control and patient safety policies rigorously.
• Participate in patient rounds and collaborate with healthcare team members.
• Educate students and other healthcare professionals about ventilator functions and respiratory care.
• Act as a patient advocate and maintain alertness to alarms and patient needs.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Illinois
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential
• Associate’s degree or Certificate of Completion in Respiratory Therapy
• Minimum of 1 year of recent respiratory therapist experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
