Description
Registered Nurse - Adult Care
Location: New York, NY
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Employment Type: Community Care - Nursing
Shift: Every other weekend coverage required
Hours: 7 hours/day, 37.5 hours/week
Candidates must be local
Job Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans in consultation with healthcare professionals
- Provide direct and individualized bedside nursing care to pre- and post-surgery patients
- Prepare, administer, and record prescribed medications
- Change dressings, insert catheters, and start IVs
- Adjust specialized medical equipment and interpret/record measurements
- Monitor patients' vital signs and report adverse medication reactions promptly
- Collaborate on discharge planning with the healthcare team
- Educate patients and families on surgical procedures and post-surgery care
- Maintain and update patient files, medical charts, and health records
- Adhere to best nursing practices, standards, and protocols
Required Qualifications
Experience
- Minimum 1 year of Home Health experience within the last year
- Experience in Home Care and Post Acute settings
- Med/Surg experience
- Post-operative care
- Telemetry monitoring
- Experience with OASIS documentation system
Education
- Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited educational institute
Licensure & Certification
- Valid New York State RN License
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with EPIC Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system
Additional Information
- This position requires local candidates due to home care visits within the Bronx borough
- Every other weekend coverage is mandatory
