Med/Surg RN Travel Position - California

Job Summary

• Provide safe, effective, quality nursing care based on Relationship Based Care and Jean Watson’s Theory of Caring.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care for Med/Surg and Telemetry patients.
• Collaborate with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams to promote health and recovery.
• Deliver culturally competent, age-appropriate, ethical care within legal nursing standards.
• Delegate and supervise nursing care tasks appropriately.
• Act as patient advocate and liaison among healthcare team members.
• Utilize manual and automated information systems for documentation and efficiency.
• Contribute to positive patient experiences and assist in complaint resolution.

Location & Assignment Details

• Location: California (Fairfield area)
• Float Pool assignment: Nurses float between various Med/Surg and Med/Telemetry units within the same facility location; no mid-shift floating between different facilities.
• Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (36 hours/week)
• Contract Length: 8 weeks
• Start Date: ASAP
• Orientation/Class Dates: June 5 or June 19

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in California.
• Minimum of 3 years of Med Surg nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
• Acute Care experience.
• Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment.
• Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing.
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.

Physical & Other Requirements

• Ability to perform physical duties including lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, twisting, reaching, and fine motor skills.
• Completion of annual organizational employment requirements.
• Ability to document nursing care per hospital policies.
• Accountable for patient satisfaction and understanding the impact of personal behavior on patient experience.
• Ability to investigate and assist in resolving complaints promptly.

Work Environment & Scheduling

• Department operates on an Alternate Work Schedule (AWS).
• Double time pay applies after 12 hours worked per day.
• Overtime pay applies after 40 hours worked per week.

• References are required with application submissions.
• Nurses in this role are prioritized for floating assignments rather than being assigned to a specific unit.
