Description
Job Opportunity: RN Medical/Surgical
Location: Mequon, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
Job Description
- Telemetry background required (ability to read telemetry).
- Minimum 2 years of Medical/Surgical nursing experience required.
- Experience with EPIC electronic health record system.
- Prior travel nursing experience required.
- Must be willing to float onsite within skill set or to other sites within 40 miles if needed.
- Nail policy: No artificial or acrylic nails; natural nails must be short (less than 1/4 inch).
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Wisconsin.
- Minimum of 2 years of Medical/Surgical and Telemetry nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Prior travel nursing experience.
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system.
Onboarding and Compliance Requirements
Professional Documentation (must be submitted prior to assignment)
- Resume or professional profile.
- Two professional references.
- Driver’s license or state ID (valid, not expired, matching address requirements).
- Nursys license verification.
- License/certificate primary source verification.
Onboarding Documentation (required prior to or at start)
- Signed assignment agreement and offer letter.
- Badge photo (forward-facing headshot with white or blue background, no filters).
- Criminal background check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry, and other required screenings within 90 days of start.
- EPLS (Excluded Parties List System) check within 90 days of start.
- Employment verification for the past 7 years.
- Education verification relevant to clinical work within 90 days of start.
- Confirmation of assignment on agency letterhead with accurate start/end dates.
- Nursing contract worker onboarding completed onsite.
- Completion of required pre-hire modules including Nova StatStrip.
Clinical Competency and Testing (must be completed prior to or at start)
- Ascension Specialty Exam (minimum 80% passing score, updated every 3 years).
- Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA, etc., minimum 80% passing score, updated every 3 years).
- Ascension EKG Exam (minimum 80% passing score, updated every 3 years).
- Ascension Epic Test-Out (Epic training and test results with signed attestation).
- Ascension Skills Checklist (completed within one year of start, updated annually).
- Ascension Color Vision test (updated every 3 years).
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Proof of two MMR vaccines or positive IgG titer (no declinations accepted).
- Proof of two Varicella vaccines, serological immunity, or documented history (no declinations accepted).
- Tdap vaccine valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted).
- Hepatitis B vaccination series completion or signed declination.
- Influenza vaccine recommended during flu season (exemptions accepted with mask requirement).
- 2-step PPD or IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot) testing with negative chest X-ray if positive, plus annual TB questionnaire.
- Fit test for respiratory protection (preferred prior to start, can be completed onsite).
- Health statement or physical exam confirming good health prior to first assignment, updated annually.
- 12-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start, updated annually thereafter.
Additional Notes
- Floating may be required within the skill set or to other nearby sites (within 40 miles).
- Nail policy strictly enforced for infection control.
This position is ideal for experienced Medical/Surgical RNs with telemetry skills and prior travel nursing experience seeking a 13-week assignment in Wisconsin.
