RN Surgery – Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Job Details
- Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
- Contract Length: 26 weeks
- Shift: Rotating 4x10 hour shifts, typically 08:30 AM – 07:00 PM, flexible based on OR volume
- Call: Rotating weekday and weekend call based on department needs
- Holiday: Rotating call hours with regular staff
- Floating: May be required to float onsite within skill set or to sites within 40 miles if needed
Requirements / Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin
- Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Prior travel nursing experience
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Onboarding & Compliance Requirements
- Completion of specialty competency exams with minimum 80% passing score (Ascension Specialty Exam, Core Competencies, EKG Exam)
- Epic test-out and training checklist with signed attestation
- Health and immunization requirements including:
- MMR (two vaccines or positive titer; no declinations)
- Varicella (two vaccines, immunity evidence, or history; no declinations)
- Tdap (valid within 10 years; no declinations)
- Hepatitis B vaccination series completion or signed declination
- Influenza vaccine recommended during flu season (exemptions accepted with mask requirement)
- TB screening: 2-step PPD or IGRA, chest X-ray if positive, and annual TB questionnaire
- Fit test for respiratory protection (preferred before start, can be completed onsite)
- Drug screening: 12-panel drug test within 30 days prior to start, updated annually
- Statement of good health or physical exam prior to assignment, updated annually
- Professional documentation including:
- Resume/Profile
- Two professional references
- Criminal background check (including SSN trace, OIG, National Sex Offender, etc.) within 90 days prior to start
- Employment verification for past 7 years
- Education verification relevant to clinical work within 90 days prior to start
- Signed assignment agreement and onboarding attestations completed onsite
Additional Notes
- Must provide a valid driver’s license or state ID matching address on file
- Some onboarding documents and exams must be updated every 3 years or annually as specified
- Optional unit-specific checklist may be required by unit leadership within one week of start
This position is ideal for experienced OR RNs with prior travel nursing experience who are comfortable with rotating shifts, call responsibilities, and working in a surgical environment with robotic technology.
