Description
Registered Nurse (Rehab) - Travel Position
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Provide nursing care in a 49-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital specializing in stroke, brain and spinal cord injuries, amputations, complex orthopedic injuries, and other conditions requiring inpatient rehab services.
- Work in a high-acuity environment similar to a medical-surgical unit.
- Support patient safety by assisting CNAs and responding to call lights.
Work Schedule
- 12-hour shifts: 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM or 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM
- Every other weekend and holiday rotations required
- Call requirements apply
- Mandatory 30-minute unpaid break and two paid 15-minute breaks per 12-hour shift
- No overtime without supervisor approval
Patient Care & Environment
- Patient ratio: 1 nurse to 7 patients
- Patient population: Adults requiring inpatient rehabilitation with high acuity needs
- Equipment used includes mobility aids (ceiling lifts, Sara Stedy, Sara Plus, slide boards), vital sign machines, EKG, blood glucose monitors, and EPIC electronic health record system
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a rehabilitation setting, including rehabilitation experience within the last year
- Experience in medical-surgical nursing
- Experience with EPIC electronic health record system
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Additional Information
- May be required to float to a satellite inpatient rehab facility within 20 minutes in the future
- Orientation dates available throughout 2026 (specific dates provided internally)
- Local candidates are not accepted for this travel position
Notes
- Adherence to internal attendance and tardy policies is mandatory
- Staff must clock out for breaks and adhere to scheduled shift times strictly
