Description
Registered Nurse – Telemetry
Location: Salem, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: Nights and Every Other Weekend (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Unit: 32-bed Ortho/Neuro Med/Surg (Medical/Surgical Telemetry)
Patient Population: Scheduled elective orthopedic and neuro/surgical patients, fractures, neuro patients, and medical overflow
Job Description
- Provide nursing care on a telemetry unit requiring the ability to read and interpret telemetry strips.
- Unit consists of two 16-bed sections; floating to other applicable units may be required.
- Night shift positions do not rotate; day shifts may rotate between 7a-7p, 11a-11p, or 7p-7a if needed.
- Patient-to-nurse ratio:
- Day and evening shifts: 1:4 (may increase to 1:5)
- Night shift: 1:5 or 1:6
- Utilize neuro assessment skills and telemetry competency in a med/surg setting.
- Charting system: EPIC
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Massachusetts.
- Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing.
- Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year.
- 2 years or more of Med Surg / Telemetry experience.
- 2 years or more of total travel experience.
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Neuro assessment skills.
Required Credentials and Compliance
- Primary source verification of RN license and certifications within 30 days of start date; must be updated upon expiration.
- N95 respirator fit test within 365 days of start date; no exemptions allowed.
- Respirator Medical Clearance attestation if fit test required.
- Passing scores on medication and dysrhythmia exams (80% minimum) within 1 year.
- Documentation of immunity or vaccination for MMR (measles, mumps, rubella).
- TB screening: negative skin test or blood test within 3 months of start date; updated if break >6 months.
- Physician health statement within 365 days of start date; updated if break >6 months.
- Criminal background check, Massachusetts CORI, SSN trace, national sex offender check, and exclusion checks completed within required timeframes.
- Submission of a detailed resume covering the past 7 years, 2 professional references (including at least 1 supervisor), and skills checklist.
- Completion of assignment confirmation and attestation forms as required.
Additional Notes
- Prior travel experience is required: must have at least 2 years as a travel nurse.
- Floating to other units and low-frequency shift rotation may be required.
- This is a night shift position with every other weekend coverage.
- The unit admits orthopedic, neuro, and medical overflow patients requiring telemetry monitoring and neuro assessments.
This position is ideal for experienced telemetry RNs with strong med/surg and neuro skills who are comfortable working night shifts and floating within a specialized inpatient unit.
