Registered Nurse (Med Surg / Telemetry) - Travel Assignment

Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Assignment Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Weekly Hours: 36 or 48 (flexible, must be indicated on submission)

Job Summary

Provide direct patient care on a 60-bed medical-surgical telemetry unit. Responsibilities include assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care for medical patients, including those post-trauma, surgical interventions, and with medical comorbidities. Coordinate care with ancillary departments and maintain patient rights and confidentiality. Work within the scope of nursing practice and applicable state regulations.

Unit & Patient Information

• Patient Type: Medical
• Patient Ratios: 1 nurse to 5-6 patients
• Equipment Used: Bladder scanner, vein finder, IV pumps, wound vacs
• Electronic Medical Record: EPIC
• Float Requirement: May float to similar or lower acuity units as needed

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Missouri
• Minimum 1 year of medical-surgical telemetry nursing experience in an inpatient setting within the last year
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Work Environment & Physical Demands

• Stand and walk most of the shift
• Frequent bending, stooping, lifting, and turning patients with assistance
• Ability to push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs; pinch up to 15 lbs; minimal kneeling, crouching, crawling
• Exposure to blood and body fluids
• Must be flexible to work varying schedules and shifts as patient care requires

Additional Requirements & Information

• Flu vaccination required between November 1 and April 1; no declinations accepted
• Weekend hours required approximately every other weekend
• No call requirements
• Night shift orientation occurs on day shift; availability for full orientation week required
• Dress code: Black scrubs only; no other attire permitted
• Must demonstrate teamwork, dependability, and flexibility

Overview of Responsibilities

• Utilize the nursing process to provide safe, effective patient care
• Maintain professional accountability and evaluate care effectiveness
• Coordinate patient care with other departments
• Adhere to nursing practice standards, state nurse practice act, and organizational code of conduct and values

Contract Details

• Travel assignment with guaranteed weekly hours (36 or 48)
• Flexible scheduling options may be approved based on facility needs
• Holiday time off limited to one request per assignment
• Assignment is auto-offer and contingent on facility approval
