Description
Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery RN
Location: Salem, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, every other weekend (EOW)
Hours: 36 or 48 hours per week
Unit Overview
- 25-bed Labor & Delivery Unit including Labor & Delivery (L&D), Postpartum (PP), Newborn Nursery (NBN), 2 Operating Rooms (ORs), 2 Recovery Rooms (RRs), and 2 Antepartum (ANU) rooms.
- Average daily census: 15-25 mothers, babies, and labors.
- Bed count: 5 L&D rooms, 12 PP rooms, 2 ORs, 2 RR, 2 ANU rooms with 4 beds.
- Electronic Medical Record system: EPIC.
- Floating is not required.
- Rotating shifts required; primarily night shifts with some rotation to evenings and days as needed (no straight day shifts available).
Patient Ratios
- Labor & Delivery:
- 1:2-3 during evaluations
- 1:1 during active labor, magnesium drip, or epidural
- Postpartum: 1:3-4
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Massachusetts
- Labor and Delivery (3 years of experience)
- Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- NRP
- EFM
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Post Partum experience
- OR Circulate experience
Additional Requirements and Compliance
- Must pass medication and dysrhythmia exams with at least 80% within 1 year.
- Health and immunization documentation required:
- Two MMR vaccines or proof of immunity via titer
- TB screening within 3 months of start date (skin test or blood test), updated if break >6 months
- If positive TB test, chest x-ray showing no active tuberculosis required
- Health statement signed by MD/DO/NP/PA within 1 year, updated if break >6 months
- Background checks and verifications required within 45 days prior to start:
- Criminal background check including Massachusetts CORI
- National sex offender registry check
- Exclusion checks (OIG, GSA, MassHealth, NH Medicaid)
- Social Security Number trace
- Education verification
- Resume with 7 years of work experience including city and state required for submission.
- Two professional references within 4 years required (minimum one supervisor or above in skillset).
- Confirmation of assignment form required upon acceptance and for extensions.
- Name change documentation if applicable.
