MedSurg/Tele 2 North

Role

Travel RN for a MedSurg/Tele unit with 38 beds, including 8 Tele beds.

Required Qualifications

• Active BLS
• Active ACLS
• Active NIHSS
• California RN license
• 2 years of experience
• Must be able to read and interpret EKG strips
• Competent in at least Amiodarone and Diltiazem drips
• Dysrhythmia Exam (Basic) through UNA must be completed within 24-48 hours prior to acceptance

Schedule

• 12-hour night shifts
• Every other weekend
• Holidays rotate with core staff
• First to float

Float Scope

• Floats to Tele

Unit Details

• Ratios: 1:5
• Charge nurse generally does not take patients, but does provide break relief
• Nurse aides available as census and staffing dictates
• No vents
• Hospitalist or Intensivist in house
• No IV team
• RT 24/7
• Pharmacy 24/7
• Self-scheduling used
• Block scheduling generally not available
• Floor orientation is 1-2 days with a preceptor
• Common patients include general MedSurg, post-op general, and ortho patients
• Fast-paced unit with a 2 hallway layout

• Medical declination requires a physician’s note
