Family Birthing Center / LDRP RN

Overview

• Travel contract for an experienced Labor and Delivery RN in Folsom, California.
• Contract length: 13 weeks.
• Shift: 12-hour nights, 36 hours per week.
• Scheduling is done 4 weeks in advance.
• Weekend requirement: 2 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule.
• Holiday requirement: rotates with core staff.
• May be placed on-call/standby on scheduled shifts and expected to present within 30 minutes of call back.
• Floating: all other Sacramento facilities.
• Unit details: Family Birthing Center / LDRP with 2 OBED beds, 7 LDRP beds, 4–8 Overflow PP beds, 1 OR suite for C-sections, and a NICU with 2 beds for newborn stabilization.

Required Qualifications

• Active CA RN license.
• ACLS.
• BLS.
• NRP.
• AWHONN Advanced EFM.
• At least 1 year of LDRP experience.
• Must be comfortable with NRP at delivery.
• Will take L&D only with OR circulating experience.
• Must be able to titrate drips.

Preferred

• 3 years of experience in this setting.
• Charge nurse does not take an assignment, but may do so if staffing needs require it.

Clinical / Unit Notes

• Common patient population includes 35 weeks and above; twin deliveries may occur.
• Preterm patients under 35 weeks are transferred to a higher level of care.
• Common titratable drips include pitocin and occasional insulin.
• No CNAs; one OB Tech is scheduled each shift.
• OB is in house 24/7.
• Anesthesia is on-call rather than in house 24/7; if patients have an epidural, anesthesia remains in house for the duration.
• RT attends every delivery and assists with respiratory support and equipment as needed.
• No Tele/Monitor Techs on the unit.
• Fetalink is the EFM system.
