    Description

    Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

    Location: Apple Valley, California
    Facility: Providence Saint Mary Medical Center
    Hospital System: Providence Health and Services - MSP
    Contract Length: 13 weeks


    Job Requirements

    • Must work a minimum of 4 weekend shifts within a 6-week period.

    Required Certifications

    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): AHA (Instructor, Provider, or RQI) or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification.
    • BLS (Basic Life Support): AHA (Instructor, Provider, or RQI) or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification.
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification (if applicable).
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program): Current certification by AAP, AHA, or Canadian Paediatric Society (if applicable).
    • Other certifications as required by unit or specialty (e.g., Chemotherapy, Electronic Fetal Monitoring, NIH Stroke Certification, CPI - Crisis Prevention Institute).
    • State Nursing License: Must be valid and verified (NURSYS verification required for RNs).

    Required Competencies

    • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (as applicable).
    • Competency Exams relevant to specialty/unit.
    • Color Blind Testing (if specifically requested by the unit).
    • Fetal Heart Rate Monitoring Assessment or valid EFM certification for Labor & Delivery RNs (effective 9/30/2024).

    Health and Immunization Requirements

    • Physical Exam: Within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO.
    • Fit Mask Test: Required for travel assignments starting 2/5/2024 or later; must be updated annually.
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap: Vaccine within 10 years or signed declination.
    • TB Test: IGRA/TSPOT, QGold, or 2 PPDs within 12 months of start; annual updates required.
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer; declination accepted.
    • Hepatitis B: Documentation of vaccination series or signed declination.
    • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer; declination accepted.
    • Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (instant tests not accepted).
    • Flu Vaccine: Required during flu season (10/15-3/31); declination accepted with mask requirements.
    • COVID-19 Vaccine: Dose 1 and fully vaccinated or declination required if onsite.
    • Respiratory Safety Clearance: Required for travel candidates starting 2/5/2024 or later; annual clearance needed.

    Background and Compliance

    • Background Check: Within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; updated annually.
    • References: Minimum of 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting.
    • Employment Application: Must include at least last 5 years of employment with explanations for gaps or overlaps.
    • Education Verification: Required for all candidates; nursing degree verification for RNs/LVNs.
    • State-Specific Searches: Required for Washington and Oregon placements as applicable.

    Facility-Specific Requirements

    • Photo for Badge: Passport-style photo with neutral background may be required.
    • Float Policy Acknowledgement: May be required; traveler may need to float to other Providence facilities nearby.
    • WorkRamp Training Modules:
      • Core modules required for all caregivers before start.
      • Specialty and regional modules may be required depending on assignment location and specialty.
      • Epic training modules required for certain regions and specialties.
    • Skills Checklists: Annual updates required for applicable units.

    Additional Notes

    • Non-clinical and remote candidates may have reduced requirements for some certifications and health documents.
    • Some certifications and competencies are only required if specified by the unit or clinical track.
    • Candidates must comply with all Providence Health and Services policies and procedures.
