- Ratios: 1:3 nurse-to-patient ratio

- Floating: Required to float between like units
- Locals: Not accepted

- Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off once per two-week pay period

Scheduling & Floating
- Floating to other Providence facilities within a reasonable distance may be required.
- Float Policy Acknowledgement is mandatory.
Health & Compliance Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
- Fit Mask test (N95 or equivalent), updated annually
- Immunizations and titers:
- TDAP (within 10 years or declination accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (updated annually)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- Flu vaccine during flu season (declination accepted)
- COVID-19 vaccine or declination (required if onsite)
- Respirator medical clearance (RespSafety) for travel candidates, updated annually
Background & Verification
- Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start, updated monthly
- Minimum 2 professional references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty within the last 3 years (supervisor references required)
- Employment application covering at least last 5 years (7 years for APN/Subcontractors)
- Education verification required (nursing degree for RNs/LVNs)
- Skills checklist updated annually (applicable units)
Orientation & Training Modules
- Completion of Providence-specific WorkRamp modules required prior to start, including:
- Core modules for RN/LVN in California
- Specialty-specific modules for L&D and other relevant units
- Regional and facility-specific compliance and regulatory training
- Epic training modules required (completion or transcript submission)
Additional Notes
- Candidates must submit required documentation at time of submission, including RTO (Return to Office) restrictions if applicable.
- Facility may call off once per two-week pay period, so guaranteed hours are not absolute.
- Travel nurses must comply with Providence’s floating policy and complete all required training and certifications before starting.
This position is ideal for experienced labor and post-partum RNs who are comfortable with floating and working in a fast-paced acute care hospital environment using Epic for charting.
