Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Cleveland Clinic Main Campus, Cleveland, Ohio
Position Details

- Contract Length: Up to 18 weeks (3x12-hour shifts only)
- Unit: HVTI-Stepdown Float Pool
- Shift: Day/Night rotating shifts (7pm-7:30am / 7am-7:30pm)
- Typically 2 weeks day, 2 weeks night if needed to meet hospital operational needs
- Facility tries to honor preferred shift but may rotate as necessary
Requirements
- Minimum 18 months of permanent experience in the specialty prior to travel
- Minimum 18 months of recent Cardiac Stepdown experience (travel experience accepted)
- PCU/Progressive care experience preferred but not required
- Must hold a permanent Ohio nursing license or a compact state license in hand
- Certifications required:
- AHA BLS & ACLS
- NIH Stroke Certification
- Must work at least every other holiday
- Must pass ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate test during orientation
- Facility uses Qualivis – Lotus for submitting hours worked
Certifications & Training
- ACLS (AHA Instructor or Provider; RQI acceptable)
- BLS (AHA Instructor or Provider; RQI acceptable)
- PALS (for PICU, Pediatric Stepdown, ERPACU, Pediatric OR)
- NRP (for L&D, OB/GYN, NICU)
- TNCC (preferred, not required for ER)
- HIPAA Safety Manual Acknowledgement (required annually)
- State License Verification (primary source within 30 days of start)
- NURSYS Verification (within 30 days of start)
- NIH Stroke Certification (AHA, Apex, AACME, or Bluecloud only; updated annually)
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) during orientation (SafeMedicate & ECG)
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable
- Unit-Specific Competency Exam required within 12 months of start and updated annually
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Completion of Cleveland Clinic OH Nursing Online Training Modules prior to start
- Must be completed on a computer using Google Chrome
- Video training must be watched before testing
- Modules typically take multiple days to complete
- Completion of SafeMedicate Prep Materials prior to orientation (for pass/fail exam)
- Must carry a Government-Issued Photo ID at all times on assignment
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical Exam within 1 year of start, including assessment of ability to perform essential job functions
- Eye exam and color-blind testing required for new candidates signing 4/11/2025 or later
- Fit Mask (3M N95 1860 small/regular or 1870+) within 12 months of start, updated annually
- PAPRs approved case-by-case with documentation
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine every 10 years (official immunization record required)
- Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray within 12 months of start, updated annually
- TB Questionnaire if history of positive TB, updated annually
- MMR (Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella): 2 vaccines or positive titer required
- Hepatitis B: Titer, series, or declination documentation required
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer required
- Drug Testing: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually
- Flu Vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (11/22-3/31)
- Eye Exam (Snellen) and Color Blind Exam (Ishihara) required for new candidates signing 4/11/2025 or later
- Flu Vaccine Exemption Attestation must be completed by agency if applicable
Background & Compliance
- Background Check required prior to start and updated annually or after breaks of 2+ months
- Monthly checks for EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG
- 2 professional references required from recent employment (Manager, Supervisor, Charge Nurse, or Director)
- Employment application must include 3 years prior work history, with at least 2 years clinical practice in acute care in a similar area
- Fingerprinting (FBI and BCI) required within 48 hours of contract signing and updated annually
- Facility will conduct additional fingerprinting onsite
- Candidates may start with results pending if fingerprinting is completed prior to start
- Education Verification required for all candidates
This position is ideal for experienced RNs with cardiac stepdown or progressive care experience who hold the appropriate Ohio or compact nursing license and meet the certification and health requirements. The role involves rotating 12-hour shifts in a high-acuity stepdown float pool at a leading healthcare institution.
