Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Apple Valley, California
Facility: Providence Saint Mary Medical Center
Hospital System: Providence Health and Services - MSP
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Weekend Requirement: Must work a minimum of 4 weekend shifts in a 6-week period.
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): AHA (Instructor, Provider, or RQI) or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification.
- BLS (Basic Life Support): AHA (Instructor, Provider, or RQI) or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification.
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification.
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program): Current certification from AAP, AHA, or Canadian Paediatric Society.
- CHEMO (Chemotherapy Certification): Verify if required based on unit.
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring): AWHONN or NCC-EFM certification if required by unit.
- NURSYS Verification: Required for all RNs.
- Other Certifications: May include IV Certification, Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB), NIH Stroke Certification, CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) depending on unit and role.
Licensure
- State License: Must have a valid California RN license.
- NURSYS Verification: Required for all RNs.
- Multi-State Licensed Nurses (Washington): If applicable, must complete demographic attestations prior to assignment.
Compliance and Training Requirements
- Background Check: Within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years. Includes SSN trace, Death Master Index, Sex Offender Registry, FACIS Level 3, Education Verification, MVR (if Home Health), and Oregon Abuse/Neglect search if applicable.
- Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests).
- Immunizations and Health Documents:
- Physical Exam within 1 year of start.
- Fit Mask test (N95 or equivalent) required for travel assignments.
- TDAP vaccine within 10 years or declination form.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually.
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer.
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination.
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer.
- Seasonal Flu vaccine or declination during flu season.
- COVID-19 vaccine or declination (required if onsite).
- Respiratory Safety Clearance for respirator use (travel only).
Competency Requirements
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable.
- Competency Exams specific to specialty/unit.
- Color Blind Testing if required by unit.
- Skills Checklists updated annually for applicable units.
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Photo for Badge: Passport-style photo with neutral background may be required.
- Providence WorkRamp Modules:
- Core and specialty-specific training modules must be completed prior to start.
- Modules vary by region, specialty, and facility.
- Includes regulatory, specialty, and regional training requirements.
- Epic Access Training: Required for certain regions and specialties.
References and Employment History
- Minimum of 2 references covering at least 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting.
- Employment application covering at least the last 5 years of employment required.
Additional Notes
- Some certifications and training requirements may vary based on the specific unit or clinical track.
- Non-clinical or remote candidates may have reduced requirements.
- Floating to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance may be required.
