Job Opportunity: ED Holds/Tele Nurse
Location: Chandler, Arizona
Facility: Chandler Regional Medical Center
Position Details
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: 12-hour shifts (7a-7p or 7p-7a)
- Scheduling: Ability to self-schedule; subject to change
- Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
- Holiday Requirement: Rotate with permanent staff, must work 2 of 4 major holidays
- Call Requirement: No call or standby required
- Floating: May float to med/surg, tele, overflow units, and EDs at CRMC/MGMC as needed
- Dress Code: Navy scrubs
Unit Information
- Unit Type: ED Holds, primarily MS/Tele patients waiting for inpatient placement
- Beds: CRMC 60 ED beds, MGMC 31 ED beds
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:4
- Charge Nurse: ED charge nurse
- Support Staff: ED Patient Care Technicians available
- Respiratory Equipment: No ventilators on unit
- Telemetry: Nurses must read and interpret cardiac strips; no monitor techs on unit
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 2 years recent (within 6 months) strong cardiac telemetry experience
- Ability to titrate cardiac drips (Cardizem, Heparin, Amiodarone) per physician orders and parameters
- Experience caring for more telemetry patients than medical patients
- Must pass a dysrhythmia exam within 48 hours of offer (max 2 attempts)
- Pass/fail simulation lab on day one of orientation (study guides provided)
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) - AHA or APEX
Orientation
- 2 shifts orientation to Med/Surg/Tele at primary campus
Additional Notes
- Nurses will care for ED hold patients waiting for inpatient beds
- May assist with ED patient care tasks such as vitals, IV starts, and medication administration
- Will not be assigned as primary RN for active ED patient assignments
This position is ideal for nurses with strong telemetry skills who are comfortable managing cardiac drips and working in a fast-paced ED hold environment.
