Registered Nurse - Cath Lab
Location: Pomona, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work in Cath Lab (Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory)
- Responsibilities include scrubbing, monitoring, and circulating during procedures
- Schedule includes 8-10 on-call shifts per month, including one weekend
- Must be available for weekends, on-call, and holidays
Required Experience & Certifications
- California RN License
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
- Minimum 1 year Cath Lab experience
- Ability to scrub, monitor, and circulate in Cath Lab
Background & Compliance Requirements
- Background check covering last 7 years, including Social Security address check for last 15 years
- National criminal search, sex offender search, education verification, and international searches if applicable
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days prior to start
- Medi-Cal Exclusion Search within 30 days prior to start (California specific)
Certifications & Competencies
- PALS, NRP, CCRN, TNCC, EFM, CHEMO certifications may be required or preferred depending on unit
- Tech certifications (e.g., ARRT for Cath Lab Tech) verified nationally
- State license verification required within 30 days of start
- NURSYS verification for RNs
- IV certification required for LVNs if applicable
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) or CPI course required for ER RNs
- NIH Stroke Certification required for certain units
- Annual medication/pharmacology competency exams with minimum 80% score
Facility Specific Requirements
- Dress code: solid colored scrubs only (no camouflage, jean texture, or character patterns)
- Badge photo on plain blue background required within 72 hours of signing
- Completion of facility-specific orientation packet, training questionnaire, and modules prior to start
- Review and sign various facility policies including fingernail hygiene, float policy (if applicable), timekeeping, standard of care, and privacy/security information
- Annual update of systems access request form and TJC attestation
- Completion of drug diversion module for RNs and LVNs prior to start
- COVID-19 and flu vaccination or facility-specific declination required with appropriate documentation
- Physical exam within 12 months clearing employee to work without restrictions
- Fit mask testing required (N95 masks specified)
- Tetanus (Tdap), TB testing, and immunization verification for measles, mumps, rubella, hepatitis B, varicella, hepatitis C
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (no instant tests)
- Medical release form completed annually
Health & Safety Documentation
- Physical exam clearance within 12 months
- Fit mask test with approved masks or onsite PAPR training if unable to pass
- Immunizations or titers for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- Hepatitis C
- Tdap vaccine or declination within 10 years
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray as applicable
- Annual flu and COVID-19 vaccination or declination with mask requirements during season
- Negative drug screen within 30 days of start
Employment History & References
- Complete 15 years of work history including cities and states worked/lived
- Two professional references required, including one from most recent experience
- Skills checklist updated annually
