    Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

    Location: Mission Viejo, California
    Facility Type: Acute Care Facility


    Job Details

    • Start Date: ASAP
    • Floating Expectation: May float to Laguna Facility
    • Patient Ratios: 1:25
    • Experience Required: Minimum 2 years acute medical care manager experience with care coordination
    • Travel Experience: Required (no first-timers accepted)
    • Weekend Requirement: Weekend rotation required
    • Licensing: California state license required; pending license accepted but must be active by start date
    • Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: No more than 7 days

    Contract Length

    • 13 weeks

    Required Certifications

    • ACLS (AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation equivalent)
    • BLS (AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation equivalent)
    • PALS (AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation equivalent)
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - current certification by AAP, AHA, or Canadian Paediatric Society
    • Chemotherapy certification (if applicable)
    • Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification (AWHONN or NCC-EFM) if required by unit
    • IV Certification (for LVN/LPN/Other as applicable)
    • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) if required
    • NIH Stroke Certification (renew every 2 years)
    • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) if required
    • State License (copy required) and NURSYS verification for RNs
    • Other certifications as required by clinical track or unit

    Required Background Checks & Verifications

    • Background check within 45 days of start covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start, updated monthly
    • Education Verification (3rd party) for all candidates; international education requires diploma/transcript or CES report
    • State-specific searches as applicable (e.g., Washington WSP/WATCH, OBRA Registry for CNAs)
    • Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
    • References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year employment in last 3 years (6 months for CNAs)
    • Employment Application: Must include at least last 5 years of employment with explanations for gaps/overlaps
    • Skills Checklists: Annual updates required for applicable units

    Health & Immunization Requirements

    • Physical Exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
    • Fit Mask test (N95 or equivalent) required for travel starts after 2/5/2024, updated annually
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination accepted
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer with boosters or declination
    • Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination (Alaska placements require both positive titer and vaccine)
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer with boosters or declination
    • Seasonal Flu vaccine required during flu season or declination accepted
    • COVID-19 vaccine or declination required if onsite
    • Respirator Safety Clearance (RespSafety) required annually for travel starts after 2/5/2024

    Facility & Compliance Training

    • Completion of Providence Health and Services WorkRamp modules prior to start, including:
      • Core Modules by profession and region
      • Specialty-specific modules (ER, ICU, L&D, etc.) as applicable
      • Annual regulatory requirements modules
      • Epic training modules (for SoCal and other specified regions)
    • Photo for badge (passport style with neutral background) may be required
    • Floating Policy Acknowledgement required

    Additional Notes

    • Weekend rotation is mandatory
    • Floating to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance may be required
    • Candidates must have travel experience; no first-time travelers accepted
    • All documentation and certifications must be current and verifiable prior to start
    • Compliance with all Providence Health and Services policies and procedures is mandatory

    This position is ideal for experienced Registered Nurses with acute care and care coordination background who are comfortable with travel assignments, floating between facilities, and working weekend rotations in a fast-paced acute care environment.
