Description
Job Opportunity: RN Telemetry I
Location: Salem, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit & Patient Population
- Unit: Phippen 6/7, a 32-bed Ortho/Neuro Med/Surg Unit
- Patient Types: Scheduled elective Orthopedic and Neuro/Surgical patients, fractures, neuro patients, and medical overflow
- Census: 32 total beds (16 beds in Phippen 6 and 16 beds in Phippen 7)
Shift Details
- Night shifts plus every other weekend (EOW), 36 hours per week
- Night positions do not rotate
- Day rotators may be rotated between 7a-7p, 11a-11p, or 7p-7a shifts as needed (rotation frequency low)
- Floating to other applicable units required when requested
Experience & Skills Required
- Minimum 2 years nursing experience
- Med/Surg RN with neuro assessment skills and telemetry competency
- Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips
Patient Ratios
- Day and evening shifts: 1:4, may go up to 1:5
- Night shift: 1:5 or 1:6
Documentation & Charting System
- EMR: EPIC
Required Certifications & Licenses
- Current Massachusetts RN License (no conditional licenses accepted)
- BLS (required)
- ACLS (preferred; required for all RNs on Observation Unit)
Additional Requirements for Onboarding
- Fit Test (N95 respirator) within 365 days, updated annually
- MGB Medication Exam (80% passing within 365 days)
- MGB Dysrhythmia Exam (80% passing)
- MMR vaccination or proof of immunity
- Influenza vaccine during flu season (Sept 15 - April 30), no exemptions allowed
- TB test documentation within 3 months of start date, updated if >6 month break
- Health statement signed by MD/DO/NP/PA within 365 days, updated if >6 month break
- Criminal background checks including Massachusetts CORI, SSN trace, national sex offender check, exclusion checks, and education verification
- References: 2 recent, including at least 1 supervisor or above in skillset
- Skills checklist and candidate submission coversheet required for submission
This position requires a skilled telemetry RN comfortable with neuro and orthopedic patient care, telemetry strip interpretation, and working night shifts with some floating responsibilities. Compliance with all licensing, certification, and health requirements is mandatory for onboarding.
