Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Opportunity
Location: Lafayette, Indiana
Specialty: Registered Nurse

Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit & Patient Population
- Mixed Acuity Unit with medical patients and some PCU level of care patients
- Oncology and stroke unit
- Patient ratios:
- MS patients: 1:5-6
- PCU patients: 1:3-4
- Care areas include oncology, stroke, cardiac, gastrointestinal, and pulmonary
- Will care for unstable stroke patients and BiPAP patients
- Use of Cardizem, Amiodarone, and Insulin drips
Shift & Scheduling
- Shift options: 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts
- Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- No locals accepted for this assignment
- No Return to Office (RTO) requests accepted for 11/23 through 11/29
Licensure & Certifications Required
- Must have an Indiana state nursing license in hand before start (no pending licenses accepted)
- Required certifications:
- ACLS (AHA only, RQI acceptable)
- BLS (AHA only, RQI acceptable)
- NIH Stroke Certification (required for ER RNs)
- Solid neuro experience required
- Accepting MS/Tele or PCU RNs

Important Facility Policies
- Effective 11/30/2024, Indiana RNs are generally not allowed to work at IU Health facilities except for Periop/OR RNs, Allied, and Ambulatory RN travelers (including ENDO, IR RN, PACU, Cath Lab RN, SDS)
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Valid Driver’s License or Passport (clear copy)
- Background checks including 7-year history, SSN trace, county/state/national checks, education verification
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Official transcript or diploma (may be pending at start)
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam
- Unit competency exam
- Color Blind Testing (Ishihara or equivalent, 100% score required)
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 12 months (specific approved respirators required)
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (preferred)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required, no declinations accepted
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required, no declinations accepted
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required for flu season (9/30 - 3/31)
- References: Minimum 2 from recent employment with appropriate supervisory titles
- Current employment application with full work history and explanations for gaps
- Skills checklist within 12 months, updated annually
- Completion of facility-specific compliance and orientation documents prior to start

- Must be able to work major holidays as required
- No local candidates accepted for this role
- Must have strong neurological nursing experience due to patient population
- Facility uses Cerner for charting and requires specific scrub colors
