Job Overview

- Unit Details: ICU Float position requiring floating to ICU, SDICU, Telemetry, and Med Surg inpatient units.
- Shift: 3 x 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM), every other weekend. No on-call requirement.
Requirements
- California RN Licensure
- Minimum 4 years of nursing experience
- Certifications:
- BLS (AHA or ARC)
- ACLS (AHA or ARC)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification
- Ability to float to ICU, SDICU, Telemetry, and Med Surg units
Certifications & Competencies
- Required Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Scale Certification (valid 1-2 years)
- CCRN (Critical Care RN) – verify by position
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – valid for 4 years, verify by position
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) – typically for Labor & Delivery, verify by position
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) – verify by position
- State RN License (primary source verification within 30 days of start)
- NURSYS Verification (for RN) within 30 days of start
- Competency Exams:
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam may be required for some Telemetry units
- ICU nurses may require unit-specific competency exams
Background Checks & Screening
- 7-year background check required within 6 months of start, including:
- Social Security Trace with all aliases
- County searches for last 7 years of residence/work/school
- Nationwide Sex Offender Search (within 90 days of start)
- Education verification (Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred)
- FACIS Level 3 screening within 2 weeks of start and monthly thereafter
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks, updated annually
- Transcript/Diploma verification as needed
- Pending background check attestation generally not accepted for this facility (no conditional clearances)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (must clear for work)
- Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (specific mask types required)
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days, renewed annually
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination
- Hepatitis B series or signed declination
- Varicella immunity or vaccination
- Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (Nov 1 - Apr 30) or signed declination
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids per CA law)
- Color blindness exam if applicable (in-person exam required)
- Respiratory safety clearance prior to start, renewed annually
