Travel RN - Emergency Room (ER)
Location: Moreno Valley, California
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing Travel
Contract Length: 8 weeks
Job Description
- Assess patients on admission considering physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs
- Reassess patient health needs at least every shift and as warranted
- Establish and update individualized plans of care based on assessments
- Administer oral, topical, and parenteral medications following the 7 rights
- Assess and document medication and treatment effectiveness and side effects
- Perform treatments and procedures adhering to nursing best practices, hospital policies, sterile technique, and patient privacy
- Document patient responses, pain management, discharge planning, education, and progress toward goals accurately and legibly
- Educate patients and families based on assessed needs
- Interpret diagnostic data and intervene appropriately
- Communicate changes in patient condition promptly using SBAR communication during handoffs
- Respect patient rights including confidentiality, safety, and participation in care planning
- Participate in multidisciplinary care planning
- Manage patients in restraints according to policy and apply restraint criteria knowledge
- Follow National Patient Safety Goals and hospital policies including two patient identifiers
- Understand and participate in hospital disaster plans and rapid response activation
- Complete orientation to Life Safety Standards (Code Blue, Code Pink, Haz Mat, Fire, Oxygen shut off)
- Adhere to infection control policies and blood transfusion protocols
- Follow chain of command appropriately
- Comply with Core Measures and vaccine protocols
- Perform hand hygiene before and after patient contact
- Perform advanced patient assessments and prioritize care needs
- Care for patients across all age groups from birth to geriatric
- Respond to minor to life-threatening illness or injury
- Complete ED skills checklist before first scheduled shift
- Understand patient flow in the ED including Rapid Medicine Evaluation (RME)
- Perform nursing activities related to admission and discharge
- Use chain of command within the ED
- Understand teaching and physician residency models in the ED
- Safely administer high-risk medications per hospital/ED policy
Qualifications & Requirements
- Current RN license in California
- ACLS, BLS, CPI certification required
- TNCC or ATCN certification
- NIHSS and PALS certifications
- Minimum 3 years ED and Trauma experience required; 4 years preferred
- At least 1 year travel nursing experience preferred
- Experience in a facility with at least 40 beds
- Epic electronic health record experience highly preferred
- Some pediatric exposure preferred
- Travel candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
- Return to office (RTO) maximum 8 days
- Must be available to start by December 22
Shift Details
- 2 days per week
- 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
