    Job Summary: Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract

    Location: Napa, California

    Job Details

    • Specialty: Registered Nurse
    • Required Years of Experience: 1 year (minimum)
    • Prior Travel Experience: Not required (first-timers accepted)
    • Patient Ratio: 1:2
    • Weekend Requirement: Yes
    • On-call Requirement: Pending
    • Floating: Yes, traveler will need to float between like units
    • Block Schedule: Open to accommodating block schedule at manager's discretion
    • Locals Accepted: Yes
    • Pending License Accepted: No
    • Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off once per two-week pay period
    • Charting System: Epic
    • Scrub Color: RN - Solid Royal Blue; Cath Lab/L&D scrubs provided
    • Parking: Free

    Required Certifications

    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
    • Other certifications may be required based on unit or specialty (e.g., ACLS, PALS, CHEMO, EFM) - verify per unit requirements

    Licensure

    • Must hold a valid California RN license
    • NURSYS verification required for all RNs
    • No pending licenses accepted

    Compliance & Background Checks

    • Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
    • Must include SSN Trace, Death Master Index, Counties, Nationwide, National Sex Offender, FACIS Level 3, Education Verification, MVR (if applicable)
    • Education verification required for nursing degree
    • Drug screen: 10 panel within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
    • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
    • Immunizations and health documents required:
      • TDAP (within 10 years or declination accepted)
      • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months
      • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
      • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
      • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
      • Flu vaccine during flu season or declination
      • COVID vaccine or declination
    • Respirator clearance required for travel starts on or after 2/5/2024
    • Fit mask testing required (annual update)

    Training & Competencies

    • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable
    • Competency exams required by specialty/unit
    • Color Blind Testing if required by unit
    • EFM training required for L&D RNs (via certification or fetal heart rate monitoring exam)
    • Skills checklist updated annually for applicable units

    Scheduling & Work Environment

    • Floating between like units required
    • Weekend shifts required
    • Block scheduling possible based on manager discretion
    • Facility allows one call-off per two-week pay period

    References & Employment History

    • Minimum of 2 references covering 1 year of employment within last 3 years in comparable specialty/setting
    • Employment application covering at least last 5 years required
    • Clarification required for any gaps or overlaps in employment

    This position is ideal for a Registered Nurse with at least 1 year of acute care experience, comfortable with floating between units, weekend work, and working in a fast-paced hospital environment using Epic. Prior travel experience is not required.
