Job Opportunity: Emergency Department Nurse (Contract)
Location: Fall River Mills, California
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Summary
- Provide care for a wide range of medical conditions, maladies, and injuries in the Emergency Department.
- Ability to multi-task efficiently and assess/treat patients quickly, especially during acute illness or trauma onset.
- Assist the emergency room team leader and acute care nurse as directed.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Current California nursing license in good standing.
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department nursing experience preferred (1 year preferred in description, but 2 years indicated elsewhere).
- Certifications required: ACLS, PALS, CPR.
- NRP and TNCC certifications required within one year of hire.
Responsibilities

Specific Competencies
- Conduct individualized patient assessments and prioritize care based on patient condition.
- Notify Charge Nurse and physician of abnormal findings.
- Develop and implement individualized patient care plans in collaboration with healthcare team.
- Perform treatments as ordered (e.g., EKGs, blood draws, IV starts).
- Maintain cleanliness and restock work areas.
- Provide patient and family education.
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient progress accurately and timely.
- Initiate emergency resuscitative measures per protocols.
- Maintain confidentiality and provide culturally sensitive, non-judgmental care.
- Adhere to safety and infection control standards.
- Assist other nursing departments as qualified and needed.
- Ensure highest standards of patient care and communicate concerns through proper channels.
- Follow medication administration and narcotics control procedures.
Professional Requirements
- Adhere to dress code and maintain a neat, professional appearance.
- Complete annual education and maintain regulatory requirements.
- Wear identification while on duty.
- Participate in annual evaluations and meetings.
- Report to work on time and complete assigned duties within designated timeframes.
- Uphold the mission, ethics, and goals of the healthcare organization.
Working Conditions
- Willingness to work beyond normal hours and temporarily in other positions as needed.
- Interaction with personnel, visitors, and government agencies when necessary.
- Ability to function independently with integrity, flexibility, and effective teamwork.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, lift, walk, and move intermittently during shifts.
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Additional Information
- Facility is a critical access hospital with 22 acute beds and 99 long-term care beds.
- Prior travel experience is not required for this position.
