    Description

    Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Case Manager) - Travel/Contract

    Location: Downey, California
    Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
    Schedule: Days, Monday - Friday (08:30 AM - 5:00 PM)

    • Every other weekend required, every weekend preferred

    Experience Requirements

    • Minimum 2 years of Registered Nurse experience required
    • Accepts first-time travelers (no prior travel experience required)

    • The Joint Commission standards, Core Measures, and National Patient Safety Goals

    Attire: Business casual (no scrubs required)


    Certifications Required (as applicable)

    • BLS (Basic Life Support): Required for all clinical starts
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Required for Cath Lab, ER, ICU, IR, PACU, and Telemetry; preferred for LVN/LPN
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): Required for ER; as applicable for other units
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program): Required for NICU and Labor & Delivery
    • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring): Required for Labor & Delivery
    • State Nursing License: Verification required within 14 days prior to start
    • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) or CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute): Required for RNs working in ER and ICU; must include a physical, in-person portion within 90 days of start
    • NIH Stroke Certification: Required for RNs in ER, ICU/CCU, CCL, DOU, IR, Medical-Surgical, Stepdown, and Telemetry; preferred for LVNs
    • Harassment Prevention Training: 1 hour CA training for non-supervisory positions including RNs; 2 hours for management level

    Competency Exams

    • Medication Test / Pharmacology Competency Exam (passing score 80%)
    • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (advanced level required for MS, Telemetry, ICU, ED; single attempt only)
    • Fetal Monitoring Competency Exam (for Labor & Delivery RNs; updated annually)
    • General Competency Exams as applicable

    Health and Background Requirements

    • Physical exam within 1 year of start, confirming fitness for duty and communicable disease free
    • Negative TB test (TSPOT, QGold, or 2 PPDs) within 1 year
    • Annual TB Questionnaire
    • Required immunizations or positive titers for:
      • Rubeola (Measles)
      • Mumps
      • Rubella
      • Varicella
      • Hepatitis B (3 dose series, positive titer, or declination)
      • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination)
    • Seasonal Flu vaccination or facility-specific declination (mask required if unvaccinated during flu season)
    • COVID vaccination or facility-specific declination (mask required if unvaccinated during flu season)
    • Negative 7-panel drug test within 30 days of start (instant acceptable)

    Additional Requirements

    • 7-year criminal background check within 90 days
    • Monthly updated EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
    • Education verification (highest level) required
    • Professional references: 2 for clinical candidates (Manager or above, including Charge Nurses) validated within 2 years
    • Employment application/resume with at least 1 year of relevant experience and 7 years of work history if applicable
    • Skills checklist updated annually (not required for non-licensed workers)
    • Photo for badge with white background (not required for per diem)
    • Completion of facility-specific onboarding modules prior to start
    • Fit mask test within 1 year of start and renewed annually (with religious exemption process if applicable)

    Time Off Policy

    • Requests for time off (RTO) must be submitted with application
    • No time off allowed during the first two weeks of assignment
    • Once RTO is submitted, changes are only allowed to cancel time off
    • Confirm all needed time off for the full 13-week contract before submission

    This position offers a structured day shift schedule with a focus on case management and care coordination in an acute hospital setting. It is suitable for RNs with at least 2 years of experience and welcomes first-time travel nurses.
