    Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

    Location: Eureka, California
    Contract Length: 13 weeks


    Job Details

    • Experience Required: Minimum 2 years of acute care experience (highest requirement noted)
    • Prior Travel Experience: Not required (first-timers accepted with clinical approval)

    • Weekend Requirements: Work every other weekend (EOW)
    • Call: Not required
    • Floating: May need to float between like units based on need

    Job Description

    • Must have acute care experience.
    • Case management duties included.
    • Free parking on the first day; assignment parking provided during orientation.
    • Facility is near 7 state and national parks, offering outdoor and nature activities.
    • Facility assists with housing, including realtor support if needed.

    Required Certifications & Licenses

    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – Current certification from AAP, AHA, or Canadian Paediatric Society
    • State License: Valid RN license for California
    • NURSYS Verification: Required for all RNs
    • Other certifications may be required based on unit or specialty (e.g., Chemotherapy, Electronic Fetal Monitoring) – verify with clinical tracks

    Required Background & Compliance Checks

    • Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start, updated monthly
    • Education verification required for all candidates
    • Drug testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
    • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
    • Immunizations and health documents required:
      • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination)
      • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (annual updates required)
      • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
      • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
      • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
      • Flu vaccine or declination during flu season
      • COVID vaccine or declination
    • Respirator safety clearance required annually for travel candidates
    • References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years

    Training & Competency Requirements

    • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (as applicable)
    • Competency exams as required by specialty
    • Color Blind Testing (if required by unit)
    • Skills checklist updated annually (clinical specialties)
    • Epic training modules completion required (specific to Providence system)
    • Providence WorkRamp modules:
      • Core modules for profession and region
      • Specialty-specific modules for ER, L&D, and leadership roles
      • Annual regulatory modules required for all caregivers
    • Float Policy Acknowledgement required (may float to other Providence facilities nearby)

    Additional Notes

    • Facility offers support for housing and is located near multiple parks and natural attractions.
    • Free parking on the first day, with parking assigned during orientation.
    • Prior travel experience is not required; first-time travelers may be accepted with clinical approval.
    • Floating between units may be required based on staffing needs.
