Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Mission Hills, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Acute Care Facility setting
- Start Date: ASAP
- Floating: No
- Patient Ratios: 1:20
- Weekend Requirement: Weekend rotation plus meeting department needs
- California State Nursing License required (pending license accepted if licensed by start date)
- Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: No more than 7 days
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of acute care hospital case management experience
- Experience must include care coordination and discharge planning
- Hospital experience is mandatory
- First-time travelers accepted (clinical screening required)
- Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required
Certifications Required
- ACLS (AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation equivalent)
- BLS (AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation equivalent)
- PALS (if applicable)
- NRP (if applicable)
- Chemotherapy certification (if applicable)
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification (if applicable)
- Fire Card (required; may be completed up to 30 days post-start if all attempts made prior)
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) (if applicable)
- NIH Stroke Certification (every 2 years, if applicable)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) (if applicable)
- IV Certification (if applicable)
- State Nursing License (must be current and verifiable)
- NURSYS Verification required for all RNs
Compliance & Background Requirements
- Background Check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start, updated monthly
- Education Verification required for all candidates (nursing degree verification mandatory for RNs)
- Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (instant tests not accepted)
- Physical Exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
- Fit Mask test required for travel starts on or after 2/5/2024, updated annually
- Immunizations and Health Documents:
- TDAP (within 10 years or declination accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Flu vaccine required during flu season or declination accepted
- COVID vaccine or declination required
- Respiratory Safety Clearance required for all new travel starts on or after 2/5/2024, annually updated
Documentation & Training Requirements
- Employment Application covering at least last 5 years (7 years for APN/Subcontractors)
- Minimum of 2 references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting (6 months for CNAs)
- Skills Checklist updated annually (if applicable)
- Providence-specific WorkRamp training modules required prior to start, including:
- Core Modules for profession
- Specialty-specific modules (if applicable)
- Regional and facility-specific modules
- Epic Access training modules required for SoCal and certain other regions (Per Diem only)
- Badge photo (passport style with neutral background) required
Additional Notes
- Floating policy acknowledgment required; may be required to float to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance
- No floating expected for this position, but policy acknowledgment still required
- Background checks and education verifications have specific regional and facility requirements
- Some certifications and competencies may be waived for non-clinical or remote candidates (not applicable here)
