Job Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (Neuro experience required)
- Required Years of Experience: 1 year (minimum)
- Prior Travel Experience: Not accepted for first-timers (must have prior travel experience)
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Start Date: ASAP
- Shift Requirements:
- Weekend shifts required every other weekend (4 weekend shifts in a 4-week period)
- Ratios: 1:2 patient-to-nurse ratio
- No on-call required
- Floating between like units as needed
- Block scheduling possible at manager discretion
- Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off once per two-week pay period
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Certification
- Additional certifications may be required based on unit and clinical track (e.g., PALS, NRP, Chemotherapy, EFM)
Licensure & Compliance
- Must have current, valid California RN license (pending licenses not accepted)
- NURSYS verification required
- Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- Drug screening (10 panel) within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- TDAP (within 10 years or declination accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (annual updates required)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Flu vaccine during flu season or declination
- COVID vaccine or declination
- Fit mask test required annually (3M 1860, 1860S, 1870+ masks accepted)
Skills & Competencies
- Neuro experience required (skills checklist levels 3-4 mandatory)
- Skills checklist must be updated annually
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Color blind testing may be required on a unit basis
- Competency exams required as applicable by specialty
- Floating policy acknowledgment required
Scheduling & Work Environment
- Facility uses Meditech for charting
- Scrub color: Any color allowed
- Free parking available
- Floating between similar units may be required to meet facility needs
References & Employment History
- Minimum of 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting
- Employment application must include at least last 5 years of employment with explanations for any gaps or overlaps
Training & Modules
- Completion of Providence-specific WorkRamp modules required prior to start, including:
- Core modules for RN in California
- Specialty-specific modules based on unit assignment (e.g., Neuro, ICU, ED)
- Annual regulatory modules
- Epic training modules required for SoCal candidates (must be completed after Providence access granted)
Additional Notes
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
- Prior experience with specialized equipment at the facility is a plus
- RTO (Return to Office) restrictions must be included at time of submission
- Background checks and education verifications are strictly enforced and must be current
- Floating policy requires acknowledgment; may float to other Providence facilities nearby
