Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Lafayette, Indiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work on a Mixed Acuity Unit including medical patients and some PCU level of care patients.
- Unit specialties include oncology, stroke, cardiac, gastrointestinal, and pulmonary care.
- Patient ratios: MS patients 1:5-6, PCU patients 1:3-4.
- Care for patients with Cardizem, Amiodarone, Insulin drips, unstable strokes, BiPap.
- Must have solid neurological nursing experience.
- Accepting MS/Telemetry or PCU Registered Nurses.
- Shift options: 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts.
- Locals are NOT accepted for this position.
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only, RQI acceptable
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only, RQI acceptable
- NIH Stroke Certification (required for ER RNs)
- Must have IN state, compact, or IN temporary nursing license prior to start (pending license accepted)

Important Notes
- Effective 11/30/24, Indiana RNs are generally not allowed to work at this facility except for Periop/OR RN travelers and certain allied/ambulatory RN travelers (Periop includes ENDO, IR RN, PACU, Cath Lab RN, SDS).
- Candidates must confirm experience with drips and procedures: Cardizem, Amiodarone, Lasix, Insulin, Post Heart Cath, and Post Pacemaker.
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License or Passport (clear copy)
- Background checks including 7-year work/lived history, criminal, sex offender, FACIS Level III, education verification
- Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 12 months (N95 or approved respirators)
- Immunizations and titers required:
- TB test within 1 year
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required (no declinations accepted)
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required (no declinations accepted)
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination required
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap preferred but not required
- Seasonal Flu vaccination/documentation required (no declinations accepted)
- Competency exams including medication/pharmacology test and unit competency exam
- Minimum of 2 professional references from recent employment (with supervisory titles)
- Current employment application with full work history and explanations for gaps over 30 days
- Skills checklist completed within 12 months and annually thereafter
