Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Cath Lab
Location: Los Angeles, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work schedule: 4 days a week, 10-hour shifts (07:00 AM - 05:30 PM)
- Call requirement: 5 weekdays and 1 weekend day per week
- Cath Lab experience required
Required Clinical Experience
- Arrhythmia Induction
- Cardioversion
- Circulate Procedures
- Insertion/Programming of AICDs (Automatic Implantable Cardiac Defibrillators)
- Tilt Table Study
- Procedural Sedation Administration/Monitoring
- Use of Maclab for documentation in EP Lab
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- Fire Card (specific to Los Angeles, with expiration date)
Additional Required Certifications (as applicable)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – for ER or as applicable
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) – for NICU and L&D
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) – for L&D
- NIH Stroke Certification – for ER, ICU/CCU, CCL, DOU, IR, Med/Surg, Stepdown, and Telemetry
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) or CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) with physical, in-person portion – required for RNs in ER and ICU (can pend if online version on file, must complete in-person within 90 days)
- Harassment Prevention Training (1 hour CA training for non-supervisory positions)
Competency Exams
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (Relias Advanced with Measurements) – must be completed within 72 hours of signing, minimum 80% passing score, 2 attempts allowed
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam – passing score 80%
- Pass/Fail Testing for Dysrhythmia/EKG and Medication – required for Medical Surgical, MS/Tele, Telemetry, ER, and ICU RNs
- Fetal Monitoring Competency Exam – required for L&D RNs, updated annually
Licensure & Documentation
- State Nursing License verification required within 14 days prior to start
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Background Check: 7-year criminal background check within 90 days, including all counties lived/worked, national databases, and sex offender registry
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks – must be updated monthly
- Education Verification – highest level of education must be verified
- Employment Application/Resume – must include at least 1 year of relevant experience and 7 years of work history if applicable
- Professional References – 2 professional references from manager or above, validated within 2 years
- Skills Checklist – updated annually (not required for non-licensed workers)
- Photo for Badge – white background, shoulders up (not required for Per Diem)
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical Exam within 1 year, stating candidate is free of communicable disease and able to perform job duties without limitations
- Fit Mask Test – required within 1 year and renewed annually for applicable units; religious exemptions available with documentation
- Immunizations/Vaccinations or Declinations (with required forms):
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella – positive titer or 2 lifetime vaccines required
- Hepatitis B – 3 dose vaccine series, positive titer, or declination
- Seasonal Flu Vaccination or declination (required during flu season Nov 1 - Mar 31)
- COVID Vaccination or declination (required Nov 1 - Mar 31)
- Drug Testing – Negative 7 Panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant acceptable)
Notes
- Return to Office (RTO) should be submitted prior to contract start
- Facility-specific pre-start modules must be completed by 5 PM on the Monday the assignment begins
- Pass/fail testing for Dysrhythmia/EKG is administered onsite; failure results in cancellation without remediation
- Candidates must complete required training and certifications as per unit and facility policies
