Position Overview

• Role: Registered Nurse (RN) in Behavioral Health
• Number of Openings: 5
• Shift: Days (7 AM - 7 PM)
• Schedule: No block schedule
• Weekly Hours: 36 hours guaranteed
• Weekend Hours: Every other weekend
• Call Requirements: No call
• Float Requirements: Yes

Unit Information

• Beds: 104 total across five units (adult, child, geriatric)
• Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:8 (lower ratios for geriatric and pediatric patients)
• Patient Population: Geriatric, pediatric (ages 5-17), and adult patients
• Common Diagnoses: Schizophrenia, depression, bipolar disorder, substance use disorder, anxiety
• Equipment: None specified
• Electronic Health Record: Cerner
• Supervision: Shift supervisors only

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or higher (BSN preferred)
• Licensure: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts
• Certifications: BLS required; ACLS preferred
• Experience: Minimum 2 years in inpatient psychiatric/behavioral health setting (higher experience requirement takes precedence)
• Skills:

  • Experience as an RN in behavioral health preferred
  • Must be willing to work with both adult and pediatric populations
• Personality Fit: Ability to work effectively with diverse patient populations including adults and children

Job Responsibilities

• Provide direct and indirect patient care using the nursing process (Assessment, Planning, Intervention, Evaluation)
• Develop nursing care plans in coordination with patients, families, and interdisciplinary staff
• Communicate changes in patient condition to physicians, nursing supervisors/managers, and coworkers
• Participate in discharge planning
