Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Mission Viejo, California
Facility Type: Acute Care Facility
Job Details
- Start Date: ASAP
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Floating Expectation: Must float to the Laguna Facility
- Patient Ratios: 1:25
- Weekend Requirement: Weekend rotation required
- License: California state nursing license required; pending license accepted but must be active by start date
- Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: No more than 7 days
Experience Requirements
- Specialty: Registered Nurse with acute medical care management experience
- Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years in acute medical care management performing care coordination
- Travel Experience: Prior travel experience is required; first-time travelers will not be accepted
Certifications Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – Current certification from AAP, AHA, or Canadian Paediatric Society
- Other certifications may be required based on unit and clinical track (e.g., Chemotherapy, EFM, NIH Stroke Certification, CPI) – verify with clinical leadership
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background Check: Must be completed within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years; includes SSN trace, death master index, nationwide checks, education verification, and more
- Education Verification: Required for all candidates; international education requires additional documentation
- Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start; instant tests not accepted
- Physical Exam: Within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, indicating fitness to work
- Immunizations & Health Documents:
- TDAP (Tetanus/Diphtheria) within 10 years or declination
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal Flu vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
- COVID vaccine or declination
- Respirator Safety Clearance: Required annually for travel candidates starting on or after 2/5/2024
- Fit Mask Testing: Required for travel candidates starting on or after 2/5/2024; must be updated annually
Training & Competency Requirements
- Competency Exams: Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Skills Checklist: Required for applicable units, updated annually
- WorkRamp Modules:
- Core regulatory and specialty-specific modules required annually
- Modules assigned based on region, specialty, and facility
- Epic training modules required for SoCal candidates (per diem only)
- Float Policy: Acknowledgement required due to floating between Providence facilities
Additional Notes
- References: Minimum of 2 supervisor references covering at least 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting
- Employment Application: Must include at least last 5 years of employment with month/year format; 7 years required for APN/subcontractors
- Photo for Badge: Passport-style photo with neutral background required
- Licensing Verification: NURSYS verification required for all RNs
- State-Specific Requirements:
- Washington and Oregon candidates have additional background and registry checks (not applicable for this CA position)
This position is ideal for experienced travel RNs with acute care management skills who are comfortable with floating and weekend rotations in a fast-paced acute care environment.
