Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Tele RN Nights)

Job Description

• Tele RN Nights shift
• Required to float between two facilities as needed
• Average daily census: 16 patients
• Every third weekend schedule
• Patient ratio: 1:4-6
• EPIC charting experience required
• Certifications required: NIH Stroke, ACLS, BCLS
• Telemetry experience required
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required (higher years of experience not indicated)
• Unit accepts first-time travelers (prior travel experience NOT required)
• Patient population: Adults & Geriatrics
• Common patient conditions: total joint replacement, neuro spine, general surgery, wounds, diabetic care, medical COVID, oral surgery
• Facility type: Short Term Acute Care
• Total staffed beds: 110

Required Certifications & Competencies

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
• NIH Stroke Certification (must be updated annually unless otherwise noted)
• Competency exams including medication/pharmacology and unit-specific competency exams (updated annually)
• Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., CPI/MAB if applicable)

Licensure & Background Requirements

• Valid Registered Nurse license with primary source verification (Missouri licenses verifiable on NURSYS)
• Criminal background check within 6 months of start date (7-year search including statewide and nationwide checks)
• Quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
• Education verification of highest nursing degree required
• State-specific background checks as applicable (Missouri Highway Patrol, MO EDL, MO FCSR)
• Drug testing within 1 year of start, must include comprehensive drug panel and be valid throughout assignment

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Fit mask testing (N95) required and must be renewed annually
• Tdap vaccine or declination (expires every 10 years)
• Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year (two negative PPDs or T-Spot/Q-Gold acceptable)
• Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination with boosters or declination as applicable
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season (09/30 - 04/01)
• Hepatitis B declination required (vaccine not mandatory)

Orientation & Facility Policies

• Some orientation will occur outside typical contract shifts

• Must review and sign facility policies including:

  • HIPAA Acknowledgement (annual)
  • Latex Allergy Questionnaire (annual)
  • Confidentiality Form (annual)
  • Hand Hygiene Policy
  • Fingernail Policy
  • Dress Code Policy
• Must sign float attestation acknowledging willingness to float between facilities

Documentation & Compliance

• Government-issued ID required
• Badge photo required (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions, taken within 6 months)
• Employment application required
• Unit-specific skills checklist within 1 year of start
• References: Two professional references required (supervisors preferred)
• Regulatory compliance education completed through online training prior to start (annual requirement)

Additional Notes

• Prior travel experience is NOT required for this position
• Floating between facilities is mandatory
• Telemetry experience and EPIC charting proficiency are essential
