Job Opportunity: RN Telemetry I

Location: Salem, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit & Patient Population

• Unit: Phippen 6/7, a 32-bed Ortho/Neuro Med/Surg Unit
• Patient Population: Scheduled elective Orthopedic and Neuro/Surgical patients, fractures, neuro patients, and medical overflow
• Floating: Required to float to applicable units when requested
• Shifts: Night shifts available (no rotation); day rotators may rotate between 7a-7p, 11a-11p, or 7p-7a with low rotation frequency
• Clinician to Patient Ratio:

  • Day and evening shifts: 1:4 (may go up to 1:5)
  • Night shift: 1:5 or 1:6

Experience & Skills Required

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (Med/Surg with neuro assessment skills and telemetry competency)
• Ability to interpret telemetry strips (tele strips) is mandatory
• Prior travel experience: Not specified (assumed not required)

Certifications & Licenses

• Current Massachusetts RN License (no conditional licenses accepted)
• BLS (American Heart Association (AHA) certification only) - required
• ACLS preferred but optional
• Other preferred vaccinations and health requirements include:

  • Influenza vaccine (required during flu season, no exemptions)
  • MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) immunity or vaccination
  • TB test within 3 months of start date
  • Fit test for N95 respirator within 1 year of start date
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or immunity preferred
  • Tdap vaccine preferred (within 10 years)

Additional Requirements

• Must pass medication and dysrhythmia exams (80% passing score)
• Background checks including criminal background, Massachusetts CORI, SSN trace, national sex offender check, and exclusion checks required prior to onboarding
• Submission of a detailed resume covering the past 7 years of work experience
• Two recent professional references required (minimum one supervisor or above)
• Skills checklist and candidate submission coversheet required for submission
• Health statement signed by a licensed provider within 1 year of start date
• Respirator Medical Clearance attestation required if fit test is required

Summary

This is a night and every-other-week (EOW) night shift position on a telemetry unit specializing in orthopedic and neuro patients. The role requires strong telemetry skills, neuro assessment competency, and the ability to float to other units as needed. The contract is approximately 13 weeks long. Candidates must hold a valid Massachusetts RN license, current BLS certification (AHA only), and meet various health and background screening requirements.
