Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN)
- Required Years of Experience: 1 year
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required (first-time travelers accepted)
- Shift Details:
- 3 shifts per 13 weeks guaranteed
- Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
- No on-call required
- No block scheduling accommodation
- Floating within service line to all Behavioral Health units
- Patient Population:
- Adult Psychiatric and Geriatric (18+ years)
- Patients with co-morbid medical conditions requiring med-surg approach
- Diagnoses may include dementia, depression, Parkinson's Disease, bipolar disorder, anxiety
- Some patients require pre-op prep for ECT
- Ratios: 1:6
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) Blue Card or MAB (Management of Assaultive Behavior) if applicable
- Epic experience required
- Medical and Psychiatric experience required
Required Skills
- Geriatric care

- Medication administration (PO, rectal, IM, IV, SC, etc.)
- Starting and maintaining IVs
- Blood glucose monitoring
- Foley catheter insertion/maintenance

- Ability to work as charge nurse as needed
Licensure & Compliance
- Pending license accepted
- Must have Missouri RN license (Primary Source Verification required)
- NURSYS verification required
- Background checks including criminal, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and state-specific searches required
- Drug testing within 1 year of start, must include comprehensive panel
- Physical exam within 1 year of start required
- Fit mask test required and must be renewed annually
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- Tdap vaccine or declination
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
- Various facility-specific compliance documents required (HIPAA, confidentiality, hand hygiene, dress code, etc.)
Additional Requirements
- Skills checklist specific to unit required within 1 year of start
- Medication and pharmacology competency exam required
- Unit-specific competency exams required and must be updated annually
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for RNs in specialty areas, updated annually
- References: Two professional references required (supervisors preferred)

- Floating: Within Behavioral Health service line only
- Locals not accepted within 75-mile radius
Notes
- Manager open to interviewing first-time travelers
- No more than 7 days of Return to Office (RTO) restrictions
- Cancelled shifts must be the regular shift length to which the nurse is assigned
This position is ideal for RNs with at least 1 year of experience in behavioral health and medical-psychiatric nursing, comfortable working with adult and geriatric psychiatric populations, and skilled in medication administration and IV therapy. Prior travel experience is not required.
