Job Opportunity: RN - Step Down (Travel)

Location: Springfield, Missouri
Specialty: Step Down/PCU (Intermediate Level ICU)
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Shift: Nights (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
  • Weekly Hours: 36 hours guaranteed
  • Weekend Hours: As required by facility
  • Call Requirements: None
  • Number of Openings: 1
  • Float Requirements: Rotational float to critical care cluster or med/surg units

Unit Information

  • Unit Type: Neuro Trauma Intermediate PCU
  • Number of Beds: 26
  • Patient Ratios: 3:1 or 4:1
  • Patient Types: Neuro, trauma, alcohol withdrawal, respiratory distress, insulin drips
  • Equipment Used: Philips monitors, chest tubes, arterial lines, wound vacs, drains, EVDs, Nicom, BIPAP, Airvo
  • EMR System: EPIC

Required Qualifications

  • License: Current RN license eligible or active in Missouri
  • Certifications: BLS and ACLS (American Heart Association only)
  • Experience: Minimum 1 year ICU experience (inpatient only)
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not required

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
  • Utilize nursing process for patients post trauma, surgical interventions, and medical comorbidities
  • Coordinate patient care with ancillary departments
  • Maintain patient rights and confidentiality
  • Maintain professional accountability and adhere to nursing practice guidelines and facility standards
  • Work collaboratively as a team player

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

  • Stand and walk most of the shift
  • Frequent bending, stooping, lifting, and turning patients with assistance
  • Ability to push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs; pinch up to 15 lbs; kneel, crouch, and crawl minimally
  • Exposure to blood and body fluids
  • May work varying schedules and shifts based on patient care needs

Additional Information

  • Flu vaccination or approved exemption required from November 1 to April 1 (no declinations accepted)
  • Dress code: Black scrubs or Mercy-logo attire only
  • Night shift orientation occurs on day shift and requires full week availability
  • Facility is a Level 1 Trauma & Burn Center and Level 2 Stroke Center with multiple recognitions for quality and safety
